It is good to have baseball rolling for a change. Hope it continues. I am a regular listener of the T&L podcast and they have an entertaining regular schtick going about 'The Science' that is based on the uncanny regularity in which a State team wins while another competing around the same time in a different sport loses. I believe 'the science' is real but is readily attributable to the history of mediocre performance by our sports teams. Thus, when multiple teams are playing, there is a higher probability of a mix of wins and losses than all wins or all losses. This is especially apparent when you consider the timing of schedule overlap.
Basketball and football overlap when football is in the SEC grind (high loss potential) and hoops are in the non-con (high win potential). Conversely, when hoops and baseball overlap, hoops are in the SEC/post-season and baseball is in non-conference.
I believe that is 'the science'.
