if we go 0-3 in the 3 bigger matchups to open the season. The recent issues surrounding LSU makes this possibility seem more likely. I can personally see Boise possibly running through Georgia as I still have a hard time seeing why they were even ranked so highly to start the season. Lastly, since Ole Miss is playing BYU I really see all of these games going for a L. The only thing that's going to get annoying is if that happens, from the very start of the season, there will not be enough talk about how the SEC is down and that a new champion lurks in a new conference despite all the off the field issues that happened at LSU, Boise playing a more inferior team (on paper) and BYU playing a train wreck. One hell of a way to start the season I guess...

may suck balls. Still probably a loss for OM, but BYU is hardly as scary a team as Oregon and BSU. On the others, I think LSU takes out Oregon, and BSU beats UGA.

I will say, I happened to watch the Oregon Spring game today.
The score was 16-0, with one td coming off ofthe kicking game.
The recurring problems for them,... no depth at the O line. The QB,s were continuously sacked and or harassed.
Also, they had a real problem with vertical passing. No depth in their wide receiver group.
The commentators frequently highlighted these problems..including U. Meyer.

To methis falls directly into LSU's favor. The DLine for LSU will not be weak.

LSU will still win. Oregon's strength is offense and LSU Defense matches up very well with them. LSU has speed, size and depth on Defense. Oregon will not face a faster or better defense all year. LSU is loaded! That will be the difference. The QB situation might be a blessing to LSU. I give GA a 50% chance and Ole Miss 35% chance of winnng.

including many on this board.....most peeps are expecting a 4 win season at Mississippi, but im going 6-6, and maybe 7-5.....now, I would give up a whole months pay to see mississippi go 0-12, but that aint happening IMO....

at first I thought BYU would skull 17 them.....now, all I expect is a barn burner.....both offenses are good, and I think it will come down to whose defense gets lucky enough to stop the other on 2-3 series.....i.e....missed FG....fumbled snap for turnover.....WR runs wrong route and QB hits the DB in the numbers for INT....etc, etc....im looking for a 35-31 or 41-39 type game....I think Vegas had it right with BYU -1, and now I think they are -3.5....I'm also thinking that line may go as high as BYU -4.5.....I'm waiting till the last minute to bet that game one way or another....

nice rule of thumb: never bet against a home dog in a big game....(Beretta's rule of thumb)....and home crowd will sure help Mississippi's defense get a little more pumped up...

and vegas is not known for being dumb....and the line is creeping up towards the public thinking BYU blow out.......also, keep in mind, although Nix is a terrible DC, there are a lot of new defensive coaches on that staff.....I don't think it could be much worse than last year.....

as far as UGA and Boise, I think Boise may smoke their ***.....hope I'm wrong though....I think the PP had it right, JJ being gone works in LSU's favor, and I also heard about what Urban said at the Oregon spring game.....if I'm a betting man, I buy up to 3.5 and take LSU.....if its even available at that close.....

you have a team that has a very inexperienced QB and very, very average WR's- I watched highlights of a QB drill and they couldnt even throw it into the 17'ing net from 20-25 yards away

you have a team that was 100+ nationally in defense last year- and lost 7 starters, counting the injury to the MLB. They dont return any of their top 4 DT's and have a new MLB- doesnt exactly make you confident about the heart of your defense. Their Secondary couldnt cover a Jenny Craig Flag Football team last year, and lost starters there. They are counting heavily on jucos and freshmen to be impact players this season.

They are going against a very smart offense with men playing on it. BYU is notorious for having guys in their 20's playing for them.

I think they could be headed for 0-8 in the SEC- they have to play Vandy and Kentucky on the road, and they arent beating anyone in the West

Wow! Where is John Wayne when you need him? You are "forced" by these people to go to UM games? Why not do some forcing yourself and make your wife got to Starkville? Screw the idiot brother in law and your sister!

take the wife to starkville, then have to take the wife and kids to oxford.....our farm is exactly smack in the middle of oxford and starkville and we stay there.....but if Mississippi starts losing, she will not want to be a part of the 11000 or so fans at the game in oxford....

and I get to spend more time on the tractor....

UM loses, its a win win for me!

byu isn't gonna suck balls. 17 returning starters. won 6 straight to end the season last year after the young guys like jake heaps (true soph, former #1 QB recruit) took over. and they are adding ross apo (redshirt frosh, former 4* recruit) to the WR group.

so yeah, they aren't oregon or boise good, but they are gonna be damn good, and a good sleeper team. i see them winning 9-10 games barring unforeseen events.

I haven't seen their spring game so I really don't know what to expect from them this season other than having a high octane offense, but if my memory serves me correctly, their defense wasn't terrible last year either. I don't know how that translates this year since I don't know how many starters on that side they return, but I think their defense will be better than LSU's offense. If anything, this game might be very low scoring. I'd be surprised if anyone scores over 16 points.

both offenses are good
They are? UM's starting QB can't hit the broad side of a barn even with no defense on the field. And he has no experience. They do have a good RB and a decent OL, but they're going to struggle on offense this year because they have no QB.

nice rule of thumb: never bet against a home dog in a big game

I realize this isn't technically a home game for UGA, but when you drive an hour to get to the stadium and your opponent flies over 1,000 miles it's about as close to a home game as there is.

I think a lot here are overstating how bad OM is going to be as well... Where does this "OM has no QB talk" coming from? Just b/c he's a 1st year starter and you've heard "rumors" he's inaccurate? Is Bama not going to have a QB either since he hasn't started?
