the SEC Official conspiracy theory

I've had a couple tonight so please forgive this rambling. I was thinking about the whole Florida/Bama/SEC Official conspiracy theory. We all seem to think that the SEC has helped Bama and Florida along to insure that they go to the SEC Championship game undefeated. We feel that the SEC wants the money that they would bring to the SEC from the SEC championship game and ensuing bowl games. To me, the money trail gives great credit to this theory. The SEC has too much to gain from the two teams vying for the Natl Championship and from the bowl revenue off of the two bowl games they will play in.

So, in thinking along those lines and thinking along with my Jack and Coke, I could infer from that theory that MSU will benefit from this conspiracy over the next two weekends. How so??? Well, if the SEC is so big on getting the Gators and Bama to a bowl, then I would think they would want as many SEC teams to be in a bowl as possible. More bowl games = more money for the SEC right????

Looking at our next two opponents, they are both already bowl eligible yet we are not. An Ark and Ole Miss loss to us would have no real effect on the money that the SEC would get from their bowls but an MSU win over both would get us to a bowl and offer the SEC more bowl money. This would get every SEC team into a bowl except Vandy who has no shot now.

So, I predict we'll get the breaks in the next two games. Thoughts? Should I stop drinking now?

I mean it's Tuesday night right?

The only people who are going to screw us out of the next two wins are ourselves. Until I see an offically unoffical write up explaining the conspiracy word for word..... I will not believe it.

Any time the first two lines of your post are something like "the SEC Official conspiracy theory" and "I've had a couple tonight so please forgive this rambling." it's probably a pretty safe bet that you that answer to this question:"Should I stop drinking now? " is yes.

The PapaJohns payout is $300,000. The payout for a BCS game is $17,000,000. It is VERY important that the SEC has 2 BCS teams; PapaJohns = not so much.

If MSU were to become bowl eligible, you'd be the 11th team obviously, and someone would have to get an at large spot somewhere.

We have 10 teams that look like they will be bowl eligible if they aren't already. The SEC has 9 bowl tie-ins. If two teams get in the BCS, which looks to be the case, then it effectively becomes 10 tie ins, which will already be filled. An 11th team would mean either someone gets left out or some team has to take a spot that someone else failed to fill.

It sounds so ridiculous, but so much has happened in tight games with these two teams that it's almost tough NOT to believe some of the conspiracy theory....

Florida v. Arkansas was ridiculous
LSU's non-interception against Bama....

Even in our games against both schools....

-Florida scores a touchdown that is really not even close to the goal-line and no unsportsmanlike conduct for the high stepping
-Bumphis runs the kick-off back for a touchdown and it's called back for him stepping out of bounds somewhere

Neither of these calls would have won the game for us, but they would certainly have kept us in the hunt. Money can make people do crazy things and it has pushed people to do worse than fix football games.

after the game Saturday. During our exchange about this and that, I thought I would pose a question. I asked them

"Being that ESPN is the leader in sports, why is it that a major sports news organization cannot do an investigative piece on cheating in college sports? I'm hearing that some really big money is being spread around to players at certain schools to make them winners quickly. I'm not naming any school but it's not hard to see how fast they have risen from mediocrity."

With that, the 3 of them looked at each other and grinned like a Cheshire cat. One looked at me and said "We've heard the same. The reason nobody checks out what's really going down is due to the fact it's bad for business. ESPN just spent a ton of money on the SEC and they aren't going to kill the the golden goose!"

Take it for what it's worth!

Alabama doesn't do this! Nick Saban gets all of the recruits because he's so likable and not a total dick. The 'kids' love him!
