Georgia leading Kentucky 70-61 final seconds. Guess Noel was pretty damn good. Or cal is not that good of a coach.

You are right about one thing, coach Cal is not a good coach. Coach Cal is a great coach. I would not piss in his mouth if his tonsils were a blaze but give credit where its due. Anyteam would take a slide with the top NBA pick getting hurt.

I would contend that if we swapped our team for theirs, Ray would have a better record with his team than Cal currently has. So much talent, such crappy results.

Kentucky sucked with Noel. This was just a disappointing class especially at the PG position. They'll all be gone next year and Cal will have reloaded with a ton of lottery picks once again. It's really remarkable what he is accomplishing in recruiting. Nobody comes close to Cal in that aspect. How many NBA guys has he put in since his last 2-3 years at Memphis? Has to be close to 30 guys by now. That's un17ingbelievable.

I mean this with the most amount of respect. That is an exceptionally false statement. You basically just said One Eyed Willie's dead corpse would have a better record than Cal.

Just answer me this

If this was such a crappy class, then how are they all going to be gone next year?

And you still are not being fair to Ray. The fact that you compare him to One Eyed Willy shows how biased you are against the man. Just withhold judgment until next season.

Your question is exactly what's wrong with college basketball and why the quality of play has dropped so steeply outside a few teams each year. Way back when in the early to mid 90's NBA teams all started drafting off potential and not proven talent. No 17ing way in hell should Travis Outlaw or Archie Goodwin get drafted in the first round in my opinion but they do. Every. Single. Season. Hell Travis Outlaw is still in the NBA burried on the Kings roster making $3 million a year to average 5 points. He's TERRIBLE yet he's been able to stay in the league for 9 years. The decisions some teams make in the NBA is beyond ludicrous to me. Walter Sharpe got drafted. That dude was so terrible he got kicked off our team without being able to sniff the starting lineup only to get kicked off UAB's team followed up by being SHOT during a bad drug deal. Then the Pistons draft him. Your question is one I'd like answered myself. Why do NBA teams draft unproven ****** players just cause they have a higher potential athletically? Can't answer it. I don't agree with it. I'd take Chris Lofton every day of the week over Travis Outlaw. One of them isn't playing pro ball anymore.

2nd part. No I'm not as forgiving as the rest on here it would appear. I'm not going to let a fools gold win over UOM when Marshall Henderson goes 4-19 make me forget we have a team that's rated DEAD LAST (340th) in assist to turnover ratio and on and on and on with extremely piss poor stats. Nothing can be done this year. Ray has no players. And the few he has left we lose on freak injuries. At this point I just want him to have nobody get injured. No more practices. Just get the *** beatings over with without anymore injuries. The only positive trait besides not quitting and not bitching that I see as a glimmer of hope is Ray can get steals. He's currently 70th in the nation in that category. I'm HOPING with a full squad Ray can increase the steals and you'll start to see a similar "havoc" style that VCU implements. He MUST get someone in here that can teach shooting though. Not even an option.

Interesting commentary during the Tennessee vs Auburn game. They talked at length about after UT's 0-3 SEC start that Counzo started dedicating the last 15 minutes of every practice to shooting fundamentals and drills. Cuonzo directly relates their success after that bad start to this specifically. They are 10-4 in the SEC since then with wins over UF and a gigantic blowout win over UK. SHOOTING MUST BE TOUGHT EVERY SINGLE PRACTICE.

It still doesn't give him a pass although it's the closest you can get to getting one. I'm still going to be aware that Ray is currently dead last in assist to turnover margin and his team shoots 27% from 3. You guys just think Ray is getting a pass. He's not. Nobody is forgetting losing to Vandy by 41 with 7 field goals made and 18% shooting. If Ray's struggles continue I can promise you nights like that will be remembered and considered. Which means he's getting evaluated. Nobody will admit it but that doesn't mean it isn't happening.

I guarantee you that Scott has given him a pass this year. Scott has even mentioned how terrible of a position he put Ray in. Ray will start getting evaluated next year. I understand we are terrible, but as you said we have no players. And one thing we are good at is getting steals. Look we will improve next year. But if it does not improve then I have 0 problem with you calling out Ray. It's just really not fair to dirty his name with this season. He will be judged starting next year, and you can bet that every move he makes will be scrutinized.

And I agree with shooting, especially FT shooting. But Tennessee is much more talented than us at this point.

for some reason I was actually reading a post you made on basketball. Then you got to this, and I realized that I've had way too much to drink if I actually read 3 sentences you wrote about basketball.

Walter Sharpe got drafted. That dude was so terrible he got kicked off our team without being able to sniff the starting lineup only to get kicked off UAB's team followed up by being SHOT during a bad drug deal. Then the Pistons draft him.

Walter Sharpe did not get kicked off our team for being terrible at basketball. He got kicked off the team because he was a 17 up. Not only that, but he "sniffed" the starting lineup plenty of times before the almighty Stans realized that he was too big of a liability to keep around. Maybe seeing how much talent he had in Sharpe that was wasted was the catalyst for him deciding to keep Sidney around for 3 years too long.

Wow, shooting is a fundamental part of being good at basketball? Thanks for the lesson John Wooden. We'd never have realized that without you.

Damn. Mississippi might make the tournament after all by default, which is proof the tournament is just too damn big. I'm sure a lot of their fans would be pretty conflicted if they did. On the one hand, they'd get their first bid in a decade plus. On the other, they'd not only not get to fire Kennedy, they'd have to give him a raise and an extension.

They were on the wrong side of the bubble before this loss. They're toast now unless they win the SEC tournament.

What do you expect from a team that played most of the season with only 6 scholarship players (and only 1 or 2 who had ever played at this level before) and lost its best 2 point guards for the season before it even started? I don't care who the coach is, the assist-turnover ratio is going to be horrendous.

I didn't say he got kicked off for being a terrible basketball player I said he got kicked off for being TERRIBLE. As in a terrible person. I don't remember him starting. He averaged 8 minutes a game as a freshman and only played in 6 games his sophomore year before being kicked off the team. He did however average 19 minutes a game that season so it's possible he started one or two but he wasn't exactly sniffing the starting 5.

Trust me man I'm really trying to find the shiny part of the old dirty penny. That's why I threw out the steals stat. That gives me hope. 70th in the nation in steals with a decimated squad that is being forced to start 3 freshman and another that is a freshman in play is impressive. Only 2 more games to get through. Thank gawd for MSU baseball.

Hey, to be fair, I felt like Ray out-coached Frank Martin, who a couple of years ago was almost AP coach of the year. So there's that...

Beat him at home with essentially 5 players and nearly beat them at their place with about the same roster. Martin and whoever is coaching Aubun have full rosters and basically our same ****** record. Silver lining guys!
