pretty much publicly documented - L. Roberts - to many he was simply given to us and therefore our success should be discounted. The same holds true in the Big 12 for OSU with Lucas.

Of course Rick will get no credit for having the remaining talent already on the roster. Nor for the results he got with it. Hint SEC coaches, if Roberts, as awesome as he is, was the all Rick had we would have lostmore than we did.

Rick and his wife left a family vacation during a slow time on the basketball calender to fly back to Starkville and work at recruiting this kid. Maybe those schools should ask the question why their staff didn't jump on this opportunity when it was presented as well.

The simple truth in the SEC is that any school's success is always marked with accusations from nutless internet idiots who will fabricate what they wish were true to make them feel better. Good grief, I love following the dawgs and have high hopes for them, but we don't lose because of conspiracies we lose because we get outplayed or coached on a given day. (Except football which is due to utter incompetance and mismanagement all together)

Self-proclaimed insiders who hint innuendo and having 'the real story' seem to go with every school's internet community and feed the minds of the weak. All those individuals serve to do is stroke their own egos and provide others with nothing meaningful in their lives a cause to be angry about. It's one thing to post rumor, entirely another thing to grab it and wish it were true to the point you post about little else - kind of the difference between having a crush on some girl or stalking her. Or (being fair in gender accusations) dating Glenn Close and having her boil your pet rabbit in the kitchen.

Screaming 'cheater!' everytime you lose is pathetic. It has taken what was fun about being an SEC fan and made it a pain in the ***. It has spread to journalists, government officials (As if every state in the SEC has so few problems their elected officials should have time to tamper with a school's athletic program) and boosters. Look at the postion Auburn is now in due to a few men and their obsession with not being made to feel inferior because of unacceptable 7-4 seasons. When the dust settles in Mississippi I doubt any of the allegations about either of the schools will come near the Oliver Stone conspiracies alledged. Violations will have happened. Punishments will be handed down and these same rumor mongers will claim to know 'what really happened'.

We have not truly grown our programs consistently because our alum don't join the Bulldog Club, our administration chooses the victim mentality over winning, and we don't get to the bigtime situations enough to learn to really handle them as a program. Got news for our bretheren in the state too - having lived all over this country since graduating - nobody has heard much about you all either and those that have are not impressed. Vaught is a great coach known primarily to older journalists at best these days. The Manning name got you one season in the national spotlight.

Oh, and that allegation of the implied racism used in recruiting - we don't have to use it, your attitudes and words about it do the job nicely. Everytime you bash a kid for going elsewhere it makes every other school's recuiting of the next two or three that much easier. Whenever you talk about supremacy in anything you connect the dots to a less attractive past in this region - fair or unfair not being the issue. Perhaps if you sold the good in a way those who might wish to go there found attractive you wouldn't have to worry about us rednecks, farmers, and bubbas - we do enough to shoot ourselves in the foot.

Sorry for the rant, back to sarcastic and irrelevant posting.
