For some reason Chicago State sticks out in my mind in like 1975/1976 but I’m sure we’ve probably played a more obscure team over the years.
So Mississippi A&M (MSU) and Mississippi Southern managed to beat the Cuban team in the old Bacardi Rum Bowl...but "The Flagship" lost to them in a shutout?
That was the very first game I ever got to play at Mississippi State.
If anyone is wondering where is Payne Field, it's an old WW I air field north of West Point. All that is left of it is some concrete slabs that were hangers.
Richmond Spiders. We played them a couple of times in the mid-60s and won both of them. Other than that, maybe Texas A&M?

You should see some of the opponents on Michigan’s list. If I recall correctly, there are even some HS teams on it.
As was I. Never forget thinking those guys got on a plane at LAX and got off at GTR, rumbled down 2 lane 82 through the crossroads and into Starkville. WTF are we? (might actually have been MEM but less fun to think about)

it was my first game on campus to attend. The bronco's. I walked across the field with the players after the game. Easy access for a kid.
