My take on the substitution is not worth much, but here it is.Seeing Relf'sreaction to Green letting the 3rd down pass go right through his hands, he was pissed. He had also taken several coverage sacks, and was completely frustrated. To me it looked like Chris wanted, and expected, to win this game and was begining to lose his confidence, especially withof his supporting cast (finger pointing). He probably made some comments on the sidelines that led the coaches to that same conclusion.

After spending so much time getting the team to this point, I just don't think Dan wanted to take a chance on losing Relf's confidence and leadership with9 games left to play. I think he was putting out a fire early; and while it may look to some as "giving up" or "quitting," the thought process may have been more about saving the season. And if this is the reason, I don't think Dan will ever admit it for the same reasons.

possibly but I don't think so ... there was no damn way we were going to drive the field; might as well try something different.

It's that simple, really.
