The team may need to press during every road game

Doesn't seem to be as much of an issue to hit shots at home and the press does appear to get the offense going, albeit at the end of a game when there's little chance to pull out a win. Huggs has won 870+ but perhaps he's thinking the same thing?

Or maybe Huggs, albeit capable, is not the all time great that Brad Howe and most on this board perceive him to be. The game was lost when Culver committed the foul to close the first half. That six-point swing completely gutted the momentum and any objective WVU fan would have put 1K on the 'Eers losing because deep down you know Huggins either is incapable of or refuses to make halftime adjustments.

Perhaps somehow "in the know" can tell us why the rotations and substitutions are still so reminiscent of a middle school coach playing favorites and/or d*ck measuring contests with players.

Be honest with yourselves, are you optimistic with a tie game at halftime? If we're tied at the half in football, I think we'll win. If we're tied in basketball, hell, I'd say the odds of losing are 3:1.

Riiiight. The only ones who should be blasted are the players. Every loss is on them. Every win is on Huggins.

C'mon.....think looooong, think deeeeep, how confident were you at halftime? Did you really, truly, deeply, honestly expect a decent showing in the 2nd half. C'mon, let's be honest.

Well.....if the shoe fits.....????

Is every loss on them? Nope. But Huggs cannot go out there and make shots for them, can he? Do you think he doesn't have them shoot thousands of shots every week? Was the gameplan not what it has been for the games we WON? Sometimes the players don't hit their shots. Sometimes they don't play defense. Sometimes......the other team just WINS THE GAME........WHOA!

Im all for it. Being less one dimensional & predictable & sparking the offense would pay off.

Nope, all Huggins fault and WVU is more likely than not to get an upgrade at basketball coach if they just hired a new coach. Seems to be splitting amongst posters that are against Huggins. If you don't think Huggins is easily replaceable or more bad than good at coaching, you are a sycophant who worships him as a God. There is no in between and as I've posted before, hard to give credibility to a posters opinion when it's nothing but negative. Even if they make a good point or two, completely ignoring anything outside of a negative view narrative makes the points look less like objective analysis and more like coincidentally accurate narrative pushing.

You have to pick your spots as to when you're going to press. I don't know about WV's depth this year, but you wear yourself out pressing too much, plus you can get yourself into serious foul trouble. WVU really rattled Oklahoma with the press, so one has to wonder had they pressed earlier in the game, and used it at times throughout the game, would it had made a difference. It likely could have, but then again, you have to be concerned with depth and foul trouble. I would expect to see them do more pressing moving forward, particularly come tournament time. It also depends on who you're playing against. A good team with good ball handling guards and small forwards can make you pay dearly by pressing them.

Huggs has the experience...the heart...the true desire. Doesn't clang the players free throws. Doesn't throw up and miss 22 one and two footers. Doesn't commit dumb *** reach around fouls or throw the ball into the stands. I agree with him...gotta want it more than anything and make it happen. Players don't seem to feel that way anymore.

Agreed. None of this is on Huggins, at all. He never has a bad gameplan. He never draws up a bad play. He never makes senseless substitutions. He never has ineffectual rotations. He never fails to recruit to meet the team's needs.

We've had poor offenses for years, even during the Carter and Miles and Staten and Jones days. But I blame the lack of scoring on Routt. It's not like this has been a theme for nearly a decade. HOF coaches don't fail to produce serviceable offensive teams so therefore, it's Routt's fault.

Hey bodi....Players are there to execute. That's why they practice. Too much social media not enough sweats time. No excuse for middle school foul shooting game after game. Huggs knows this team wins by effort...a fact players seem to forget when they step off the bus.

It must be a miracle he averages 24 wins a season.

That's for sure. that's for damned sure.

Still has the players if they will get on board. If they are not willing t o return to team play, ask for their WVU uniform. Remove the bad parts and I think you still have enough talent to be a winning program. It is a shame, but I would like to see them play .500 for remaining games and take tournament play one game at a time.
