I suppose I wouldn't mind having him on the roster, but I was never really impressed with him to begin with. He's got a strong arm, he's just big and looks really slow.

Just basing my thoughts on MSU Luck. I hope he develops better than the last highly recruited qb ( sans Presley ) out of Tupelo. Like the poster above said, Bumpas probably would have been a better qb than this dufus, if he had gotten the chance to play at qb. But the way it always goes for us ( Exception -Shane Matthews) he will trot his little tail back up to Scott Field one night and have a career day. Almost always happens to us! It seems!

Even when he was committed to us and Russell wasn't, I thought that Russell was by far the best QB prospect in the state and was hoping that having Garrett committed to us wouldn't keep Russell from signing with us too.

But there were many posters who disagreed. I remember some OM people saying Russell was better, and being crushed by Goat specifically, and maybe CB9?

Then again, Goat guaranteed for two years that Garrett would be in an MSU uniform. Whoops.

...he never got above a 3-star ranking and was behind Tyler (who won Gatorade player of the year) was ahead of him most of their senior years. Russell was rightfully ranked as a 4-star. We got the more highly rated QB, and better QB for Mullen I think. Garrett was mainly talked about so much b/c he has prototypical NFL size.

It seems to me that Garrett was a product of the players around him making him look better than he really was, ie bumphis. With that being said, he is still better than anybody on our roster last year and hell yeah i would take him.

after he threw that drive killing INT around 3 minutes into the video. Did he do something impressive after that?

The only thing entertaining about the whole video was the man love the guys filming had for Garrett.

He was also the product of Mean Gene's marketing campaign.

Gene took an educated gamble that he would go to MSU because of his family ties to the BC and hyped him up, hoping to make him out as the next QB at MSU.

I'm telling you, I saw Garrett several times in HS and "yes" I'd take him simply because our QB situation is so ******, however, the guy better have a great O Line around him because he is slower than a slug.......However, so is/was Peyton Manning.........

Exactly. I ain't saying he is the next Peyton. However, he does have the size and arm to be a good pro-style QB. Also, he looks comfortable in the pocket for a freshman. The only thing I saw was.....it seemed he was throwing to a spot regardless. Which was what led to the int. But reading defenses/coverages will come to him with experience. I think LSU has got themselves a guy with potential. I think he does well down there because he will have an offensive line. Plus, talent at the other skill positions to keep defenses honest.

Tom Brady ran a 5.2 at the combine. It was one of the slowest times ever for a QB. He turned out ok.

Garrett has NFL size, an NFL arm, and a good head on his shoulders. So yeah, I would take him.
