1st year starting QB + a running back's coach masquerading as a head coach

inability to make any adjustments
TO would have likely eaten that approach alive

I was thinking the same thing. Tom would have run into it just enough to let them think they had him, then late in the 3rd or sometime in the 4th he would have faked like he was about to play right into their hands again and BAM, run some wrinkle off that where 5 guys tackle somebody who doesn't have the ball while another player is running alone toward the end zone.

I remember that game in KC vividly. There was a wreck or something on I-29 north of St. Joe, and caused traffic to come to a stand still just before the I-229 split. Was smart enough to take 229 and make it to the game on time.

Joe Walker I believe scored on the return and Mike Rucker saved the game on the final play. Holy crap that was an intense game. We had awesome seats. The only downside....the blue hair lady a couple seats away screaming all game long for people to sit down. Laughing

Unfortunately, we got stuck in traffic because of the wreck and even though left an hour before game time for what should have been a 20 minute drive from my brother's house, we didn't get there until the end of the 1st quarter. But it was an INTENSE game. We were sitting in the opposite end zone from where Rucker made that final tackle and so couldn't tell what had happened until the NU defenders all started celebrating. That's when our section that was full of NU fans went nuts. We did have Joe Walker running straight toward us on his return, and so that was cool.

It was Joe Walker. I was at that game. Massive floods happened the next day in K.C. Nebraska had a goal line stand to end that game. Awesome outcome from a frustrating game!

Your seats were opposite ours. Walker ran away from us. We were 4th row right behind the post.... that goal line stand was intense.

We were higher up, probably around the 20th row, but still too low to see much of the goal line stand. I about broke my neck looking from the screen to the field and back as the play developed and still had no idea what happened until the NU players began jumping up and down and running off celebrating.
