The town argument

Oxford has done it. There are things that work for some towns and things that work for all towns. Starkville is growing, it has latched on to some ideas that ALL college towns need, and should play to the tech, ag, whatever stuff. The cowbells, the cows, country, etc. Starkville has proximity to the refuge, which is great for the "Cow Town". I wish they would go all out with this theme. Embrace the cows in every way possible. Good steakhouses, why don't we see more of those? I'd like more of that delta blues agriculture feel too. Get Morgan Freeman to come in there and start up a bar.

Also remember that Anthony's is right up the road for you food loving types. I really would like to see the entire Golden Triangle unite, if possible. that's why I'm for the merger with W.

music, art, literature, or food then Oxford is the superior town. I'm still wondering how enjoying reading, eating, and music makes me gay. Like all Ole Miss students, I would visit my friends who were in Starkville and I had a good time there. I just prefer Oxford for the aforementioned (gay) reasons. Also, in terms of a place to live as an adult, the Oxford school system is better than the Starkville school system. There is a reason that there aren't any big private schools in Oxford but Starkville Academy is a pretty good size.

you that HD6 didn't call you gay for eating. If that is the case, HD6 = Liberace.

Edit to add - it was me who called you gay: http://sixpackspeak.yuku....eply/176096#reply-176096

Easy to get you two founding fathers confused, i.e. Jefferson and Adams.

Oxford might have a few more choices as for as "fine" dining is concerned but the differences aren't much.

Ole Miss fans are pricks. Plain and Simple.

Not much question about that. I guess it could be personal preference, but still. I know because I go over to Oxford to watch JJ Grey, Derek Trucks, Black Crowes, Ween, Sound Tribe in 2010. Having said that the 2 nights a semester a band is in Oxford doesn't even come close to justifying living with the douches that populate that city.

They seem kind of shiftless and make me feel uneasy. The way they just stare at you while munching on some grass is just creepy.

It is flattering in a way if some outside group praises your town/school, but I like what I like. It doesn't matter to me what some outsider's opinion is about Starkville or Oxford.</p>

Grown men wearing red pants chanting for the CSA to reorganize is perfectly normal right? Nothing uneasy about that.

I think Oxfords proximity to Memphis gives it a leg up on Starkville. I think it's just a logistical nightmare for bands to make a stop in Starkville on their way from Point A to Point B versus Oxford. That being said, Starkville does well considering it's in the middle of nowhere and isn't convenient for touring bands. It's better off than the Jackson music scene - at least during my time in Starkville it was.

One second they're munching on some grass seemingly without a care in the world. Then the next minute they're kicking your *** with their stony hooves of death.

20 people were killed by cows last year in the United State alone. That's over 20 times as many deaths caused by cows than by grown men wearing red pants.

I need a logical comparison since those red-panted people likely wear white hoods when not attending Ole Miss football games.
