Because it's easier. In real life, I'm not going to engage a psychotic crack head on the street screaming "EAT MY ***, **** BRAINS!!!" because there is no win in that situation. Either I beat his *** and go to jail, or he beats my *** and steals my wallet.
On this here message board, I can't tell who the psychotic crackheads are, so it's easier to use a handle, thus avoiding that one, single crazy as 17 weirdo who might want to rape me with a gun barrel and wear my *** skin for a hat. Got it? Is that simple enough for you?
If you want to know whether I'd tell AK to his face that he's a ****** basketball coach and that he has proven to be incapable of developing talented players into winning, efficient, technically sound basketball players, I'd LOVE the opportunity. Unfortunately, I live in 400 miles away and he's a ***** who would ignore any email, phone calls or letters to the editor requesting such a meet n greet because he would think I was one of the *** skin wearing psychos that we're all trying to avoid on the internet.
And even beyond that, what good would it accomplish? Would he all of a sudden become a great coach? Would he instantly transform into everything I've ever wanted in a BB coach? Would we start winning SEC games and going to the NCAA's? Of course not. Fans vent. Fans get pissed off. Fans scream nasty **** at games, which AK hears, but does not acknowledge. AK is the one with a job that puts him in the spotlight for praise when he does well, and scrutiny when he does poorly. If these coaches and players are so offended by "internet heros" venting their frustrations, maybe they need a new line of work. The pussification of American sports if almost complete.
