Just because I love doing this crap - a little analysis of where we stand going into 2011. Feel free to comment. Let me know if I missed anyone. QB[/b]

Favre – rFR

Prescott – FR

Analysis: Hard to argue that this isn’t the best group
of QBs we have ever had. There is a lot
of buzz that the offensive staff loves Prescott,
so it will be interesting to see how they bring him along. I have a feeling that Relf’s last 3 games
made it a tougher decision for them.Great shape here in the long and short term.

Perkins – SO

Griffin – rFR

Elliott – SR

Analysis: I was a little bit concerned about our RB
recruiting this year, but if we pick up Milton
that will help. That said, we should be
in good shape for at least the next 3 years with the current players. Ballard and Perk will do more of the same
next year and then Griffin
(another guy the staff loves) will take over Ballard’s role and run with Perk
for 2 years.FBHemphill - JRShumpert - SOA. Marcus - JRAnalysis: Definitely hurts to lose Hanrahan. Might see the fullback role decreased a bit with his absence and Green playing more of an H-back role. If Shumpert returns to full strength that may change.

Analysis: not sure about Green’s eligibility (whether

missing. Really good shape here. Hopefully Carr can become the outside deep
threat we really need. Smith’s emergence
is big. I expect Fosselman will redshirt
next year and Morrow could have a real chance at PT due to his size – we just
don’t have anyone like him.

Analysis: This is one of 3 areas of immediate
concern. However, we look good long
term, as we have recruited a slew of solid tackle prospects in Robinson,
Clausell, Muniz, Knox and Redmond. We
have Lawrence
for one more year – so that spot is solid and you would think one of the
freshmen will be ready to take over for him when he leaves. The other spot is more of a concern. I guess we just have to hope that the Carmon
experiment works, because there doesn’t seem to be any JUCO help out
there.

expect big improvement from them next year.Still excited about D. Day. I put
Maiden here, but I am really not sure whether he is an inside or outside
guy.

Analysis: Area of concern #2 – Ferg is solid but not
spectacular. Same with Stigers. Who knows where McCardell ends up next year

I think) but he did play a little better at the end of the year. We all need to keep our fingers crossed for
Mackey. He might be the single most
important recruit left on the board for us.J. Harris is probably a year away from competing due to his weight, but
he might be a player down the road.Hopefully Eulls will make some noise this spring.

Analysis: Rock solid here. However, landing some DTs is imperative for
this next recruiting class – we need to have some guy learning and getting
conditioned for the SEC while Cox and Boyd are seniors. Hopefully Q. Evans is our guy.

concern. Just impossible to know what we

Analysis: I like our prospects here a little more than
ILB. C. Hughes played well for a
freshman and should bulk up a little to add to his great speed. Lawrence
fits into the solid but not spectacular category. Hunt and Skinner both have upside. Arrington is one of my favorites….I expect
him to contribute much like C. Hughes did this year.

half of the season. I really had it out
for that guy because he was seriously terrible up to that point in his career,

...we will be more of a throwing team in 2012. Tyler will be the quarterback and he will have a really veteran and solid group of wideouts to throw to. I think that sets up well.

I am most concerned, like you, about the Offensive Line and Linebackers. I think Eulls will step up and be a significant contributor next year. The coaches were talking about the strides he made during bowl practices.

If we were to lose Cox or Boyd we'dcould be in some trouble.Howie was ok, but there isn't another impact guy there.

That and LT are my long-term concerns b/c we have very little room to overcome injuries.

Just having two blue chip starters is quite the accomplishment. That said, I think D. Jones and Howie provide pretty good depth. But I agree that after this year we really need to have some folks in place to be ready to take over for Cox and Boyd. I expect us to keep looking to JUCO for DTs and DEs. I think we feel that they are easier to project and we have such a wealth of them here it would be dumb not to use them. That said, there are 3 or 4 BIG TIME D-line prospects in MS in the upcoming class, so we need to do well there.

C. Im not concerned about RB recruiting at all. Once we get Milton that will be 4 rb recruits in one class. Granted 2 of them will probably move positions (I'm thinking Devante Scott and Price). I mean have you seen Josh Robinson's video? Dude is ridiculous, reminds me of Perkins film from high school. I'm thinking CJ and Josh Robinson are gonna be my boys from this recruiting class.

D. I feel pretty confident you can put Tobias down on that WR list.....please please please pick us

E. Paul Jones and 7dust over on BDJ have sworn for months now that 1 of the skilled position guys from this year's class will not make it this year and probably go JUCO.....they won't say who and I have no idea. Please please please dont be Robinson or Morrow

As for ST, DePasquale is back - so that is solid. I honestly don't know who is going to punt. Baker Swedenburg? I know nothing about him. I think a lot of people take for granted the great year Hutchins had.

You are right about Robinson, but I wonder why his carries were so limited in H.S. I am sure it is because they were blowing people out. Seems like every time I saw his stats it was like 7 carries for 100 yards, which is impressive, but makes you wonder whether he is an every down back.

That group of DEs isn't going to intimidate many offenses I'm afraid. The only highly touted guy there is a freshman and none of the others have produced much. Hopefully Cox can slide over some to help out. I think we miss McPhee a lot next year.

I thinkCox plays all over the defensive front, especially given our depth at DT as opposed to DE. It'll be fun to watch, and putting Howie/Jones up front with Boyd gives you that ability.
