Comparing them to us still shows a drastic divide, however, just comparing them internally from 5 years ago, you see major changes.

The King did away with the Mutawa. The women's college in Riyadh is amazing. It's definitely improving but they have a long way to go.

I agree that they've come a ways but I hate to even give them credit because they're so far behind. They're still hundreds of years behind the civilized world and I don't see that they'll ever catch up as long as a fundamentalist version of that religion dominates their country. And since they have the "holy sites" I doubt any version of their religion other than the fundamentalist kind will ever be prevalent there.

Why are you so arrogant that you place your morality and values on an entire culture of people? It really seems odd that you take this stance yet ridicule others for not conforming to your beliefs.
