it seemed he had made tremendous strides last season and appeared he should have a lot of upside going into this year. We all were talking about how coaching got Relf to where he had gotten. Now, this. Even when he has time he is nowhere close to his receivers. He looks a of the time like he is "aiming" the football. It is hard to believe he has regressed that much.

last year. and against Memphis and Auburn. That has to be the best run of luck in the history of college football to get to play against those 5 defenses consecutively.

As long as MSU has to rely on Chris Relf "type" QBs, this is what you will get against just half way decent defenses.

We are either an OPTION team OR aRunning team with Relf. We need to decide and settle on our true identity because we cannot recruit the offensive linemen to play this type of game. It would not bother me if Relf never played another down for MSU. But at the same time, if we are going to live or die with him, then no more experiments. Run the plays he is capable of making and win the 4 games left that we CAN win.

IN those last 3 minutes we could have just taken knees and accepted defeat if we were not going to throw it down the field 3 straight times. Dinking and diving is going to eat up all of the clock. Might as well quasi forfeit by kneeling on it.

As wrong as all our OleMiss brethren were about their own team, they were right about this.

I posted a link pre-season. I won't look for it now....<div>
</div><div>It was written by a national, statistical kind of guy who wondered about this very question. So he ran the numbers and found that Relf did better than most QBs did against the aforementioned teams and also against most of the teams on our schedule that year.</div><div>
</div><div>I don't know why Relf is overthrowing people this year. But it would help if the OL was as good as the OL that Croom left Mullen with.</div><div>

We looked like crap against La Tech too. They aren't a great defense. I agree that we are a running team first and having injuries at Oline has changed that.

I think he showed his greatness during the last 3 games last year. Now, he is showing his alter ego.

Now, I perfectly understand that this is not all his problem. Losing our OL identity has killed us. However, I am VERY frustrated by the fact that we give up on giving the ball to Ballard. And, Relf still cannot hit a wide open receiver on a 7 yard slant, you are not going to win much

he's not reading the defense, he's just flat out guessing. Almost like they have given him too much to think about. They need to go back to the smaller playbook we ran last year and simplify for him. I think we expected far more progress than he is capable of.
