The untold story on this weekend was our poor pitching/om's good hitting.

over those three games, they had 11, 13, and 20 hits respectively. we have some big problems with not-so-great options. i have confidence in mitchell and lindgren and it starts getting iffy after that. ive even lost confidence in holder. when the opponents know what is coming, it makes it really difficult to be successful when the competition is up to task. he badly needs a 3rd pitch. om jumped on 1st pitches all weekend and it rewarded them.

if we are going to go into full melt, why leave out the pitching....amiright?

Bottom line....we suck. No playoffs this year after being ranked #2 in the country. Lovely.

SEC hitters are batting .371 against Holder.

In other words, he has a 6 plus ERA. At this rate, he could very well return for his senior year. He looks awful.

I agree on Holder. He looks pretty average to me. Caleb Reed's career path was similar, wasn't it?

If he does return, what's going to happen to his 12-6 curveball with the mlb balls?

I don't see a player on this team right now that any MLB team would want so they should all be back next year except for the one's that graduate or that Cohen gives the boot.

Woodruff and Bracewell make me want to break stuff with their. Omers inability to get anyone out without giving up at least 3 runs in the process. Blows me away that only have one pitcher capable of going more than 4 innings.

The problem has gotta be Butch. I know folks give him a lot

of credit for Girodo and Mitchell propelling us to the world series. But, what about his inability to do anything with the pure talent that he does/did have? I.E. if he gets Evan Mitchell, Woodruff, Lindgren, Sexton, and Hudson to all be throwing like their talent says they should and can be, we wouldn't have to worry about these miracle pitchers that had little upside when they got here.

I am in no way insulting Girodo or Mitchell. They have maximized their potential and are/were both very good college pitchers.

Other SEC teams have true freshman that are effective in SEC games. When is the last time we have had that? I honestly can't remember. Stratton for a little bit of his freshman year?

I thought it was the opposite. Thought he didn't come on until his junior year and then was money until the end of his last year. Wasn't paying close attention back then, but that's what I remember.

Especially considering the Omaha run and winning the first 3 series this year. It's as if the baseball Gods are kicking some egos right between the legs....or they have some sort of deal going with the Injuns.

What worries me is all the pitching injuries the last several years. Just off the top of my head. CC Watson, Ben Bracewell, Nick Routt, Preston Brown, Paul Young, John Marc Shelly, Will Cox, I'm sure there's more, but if you start getting a reputation as arm injury university, then that starts to affect recruiting.
