It is with sadness that I write Vincent “Buddy“ Comer passed away this morning at his home in Shenandoah. Buddy was a longtime football and track coach at Page County High School winning the 2001 state track title, and won the 1971 state boys basketball title at Luray High School. Buddy is a member of the VHSL Hall of Fame and the Bridgewater College HOF. He signed a contract with the Washington Senators after his 2nd season at Bridgewater. Buddy was the first person to welcome me to Page County High School once my wife started teaching there. He was our official starter for all home cross country meets. He was a true friend and wealth of knowledge. Page County and the Shenandoah Valley truly lost a legend today. Prayers to his son and longtime preps member @pawfan and the entire Comer family.

May God bless his family and keep his family in his watchful eye as they grieve the loss of what sounds like, a special person and great man.

I think I can picture him. Wasn't he also a basketball official?
Yes. For many many years. He was the leader of the Shenandoah Officials Association. Now, there are a lot of Comers who have been officials, and they are not all directly related to Buddy, but many are.
