We were talking at lunch yesterday and the question came up of what if a team took the vaccine and didn't have to deal with the virus? (I know the effective rate, etc). One, the public scrutiny of having a team jump the line would be huge. Two, that would be a huge competitive advantage. Three, could a team take it and no one really know? It really goes. to all sports and I see where the NFL has stated that they will not jump the line, but brings some debate. Especially schools that have a medical school on campus.

Plenty of doctors and nurses as well as those in nursing homes around the commonwealth would gladly give up their doses of vaccine for the team
I'd say you are right. How would we handle it if Roy Williams came out today and said their whole team and staff got vaccinated, we should be in great shape. I'm not arguing a side, it was just a little "what if" question we had.

Being as my wife is a Respiratory Therapist and isn't in line yet to get the vaccination........I say hell no.....medical personel should be the first in line........these kids don't have to play basketball..........my wife has had to deal with the virus for months.......no options there.......

I 100% agree with you. I hope my 82 year old mom can get it soon, I'm just saying money talks and what if he it was discovered a particular school got the vaccine? What if we got to the National Championship football game and it is determined that Alabama staff and players had all been vaccinated?

that's absolutely sad that that you think medical professionals would prefer to be unsafe and not make the world better so college bball players can be spoiled and pampered so they can watch a game being played. typical out of touch uk fan. if that's the case then every one of the medical professionals should reitre and get out of the profession. they are there to heal and care for people not make bball players have a job. what a moronic statement and if any medical people out there even consider that they should be ashamed and just quit their jobs,. my wife works in the hospital and has to deal with covid people everyday and the only people gettings it are from people who don't beleive it's real, who are people who blindly beleive everything our dumbass prez has been spouting off about, all lies coming from the top, but luckily he's gone bye bye soon. btw you only get covid if you're not social distancing and not wearing a mask meaning it's only spreading by those who deny it and nto doing those things meanign the people who are complaing about the world being shut down are the ones continuing to spread teh virus thsu keeping the world shut down. you non mask wearers are the reason it's not stopped yet.. and thus it's your fault the world is shut down, not the fault of the people who since march have been wearing masks and warning of the consequences.

For everyone who has taken issue with this comment: It appears to me that this is simply sarcasm and/or a humorous way of pointing out how much fans care about their team in this state. So chill. Just sayin'

How is he doing today, Doctor? Is your hospital first in line to get a vaccine?

Doctor, have you ever seen basketball players collapse? Because I’ve seen it several dozen times and decades before Mr. Johnson did.
My response was in response to someone saying that the virus doesn't affect young athletes. The preliminary reports are that Keyontae collapsed from heart complications from the virus. That may be true, that may be false. I will tell you how he is doing today. He's not playing college basketball.

My wife is Director of Nursing at two hospitals in Kentucky.. and I strongly agree that medical staff should be first to receive the vaccine.

The medical profession is just like any other industry, lots of people and lots of opinions. I know quite a few doctors, nurses, PAs, etc that want absolutely nothing to do with the vaccine. Then there are those who can't wait. So there are all kinds.

Personally I wont go near it and ill be one of the first in line to have it available. My slot will go to someone who wants and/or needs it more than I do.

Here’s the thing, teams will still be dealing with the virus even if vaccinated. Apparently you’ll still have to wear a mask and follow Covid protocols because you can still get the virus and spread it asymptomatically even though you’re “protected” from symptoms through the vaccine.

A lot of truth here. The vaccine will do little to return things back to normal for quite a long time, if ever really.

Can you please link those "preliminary reports?"

You must work for cnn.
There is nothing connecting what happens to him to the China virus. Have fun in your basement for the rest of your life.
That is why they check the cardio metrics of the players that have had the virus at least once a week. I am in my basement by the way, enjoying a nice movie with my kids because I don’t have to see patients today. Thanks for asking.

I don’t think you realize how many people don't want to get the vaccine...there are a lot of people of all different occupations, religions, ages, races, etc that simply do not believe in vaccinations.

I don't think it is a stretch to say there are 15 healthcare workers in the state that don't want the vaccination...

Nothing in that article states he collapsed due to heart complications from the virus. Basketball players have had heart issues long before covid.

Well while you're enjoying yourself, homelessness is on the rise, suicides are at all time highs, and social complications from the virus are going to cripple a generation of kids (my kids age) for years to come. But enjoy yourself in your basement.

Some of you are total pieces of sht.

And there are a lot of people who do believe in vaccinations, have taken many of them, but want no part of this one.

Wife and I were discussing last night....our kids, etc what to do about them...what if it is forced for school?

I spoke to one of the most liberal people I know yesterday (a great human btw) and learned he was anti-vacs, would have never guessed it....this isn't political, it is a right to choice...feel like I've heard that before.

And after the 70+ hours a week I put in, I’ll still stick around to help people like you.

Trust your government. What could go wrong with something they just threw together in 9 months?
