We simply can’t afford to play a road game vs a G5 school going forward. Look for Memphis, Tulane & USM series to be cancelled as well.

Unless it is something special, say kick off classic verse ND in Ireland, we shouldn't play a non conference game on the road at all.
A home and home verses, ASU, NC State, FSU. PSU, etc., especially the first game of the year, I can live with.
I would love a home and home with ND, they seem to get upset on the reg.

We’ll have to play home & home vs a P4 school. But that should be it. And screw Notre Dame, Penn St, ASU & FSU. We need to play Purdue & Boston College. Gsmes we can win at least as often as not.
Too bad. Would have been a scenic road trip for our fans and a decent chance for a "W". Now we'll end up playing somebody like Rutgers or Syracuse. Nothing to see up there.

Washington State a scenic trip? I haven’t been TO Pullman, but I HAVE been on the Palouse. It’s only scenic from the Snake River. Otherwise it’s a hilly Kansas. It’s different, and absolutely beautiful in it‘s own way while passing through. But “PASSING THROUGH“ are the operative words. Y‘all know how I feel about Mike Leach, but what he was able to do there really was spectacular. That place is WAY farther out in the boonies than Starkville.
Upstate New York has some beautiful scenery. And Syracuse is only 80 miles from Niagara Falls.
Screw that. SEC schedule is going to be plenty brutal enough.
The Finger Lakes region is spectacular, and a heck of a lot of fun. we even had a home in home with them back in the 80s.
I remember them coming to Starkvegas. IIRCC, we had a home and home with Miami Florida during that time period.

lol. We play 9 sec games and have people wanting to schedule a playoff contender in the nonconference. And then will want the coach’s job when he loses to them because we should be able to beat anyone with grit and toughness. Nevermind they have 3 times the money to buy players that we do.
Miami was about two or three years earlier….in other words, the same time period. I graduated in 85, and was a student for one of those Miami games. THE most legendary Johnnie Cooks moment, among many, many… occurred during that home game against Miami, which we won. If you know you know.

Alcorn, USM, NIU are pretty bad. You'll see the SEC drop the P4 game soon IMO.
That will be cancelled. But under the 8-game schedule model it made sense.
P4 requirement is never going away. It’s just too attractive for TV.
They're already discussing eliminating it with the 9 game schedule. Coaches and ADs don't like it.
Just speculating here but with Selmon’s ties, wouldn’t be shocked to see us schedule a home and home with Wake Forest or UNC.
If you ignore the geographic scenery, nearby US historical sites, nearby museums, and other cultural events and sites…you are correct, there is nothing to see around Rutgers and Syracuse.

Correct. It’s the only chance ESPN has to get the Big Ten and it’s the only chance Fox, CBS, NBC, and WBD have to get the SEC.
Plus it’s good for and helps the SEC & ACC schools with their in-state rivalry games (UGA/GT, UF/FSU, UK/UL, and SC/Clemson).

Yeah, even when Tulane was horrible and the Dome was 3/4 empty, an away game in New Orleans was a treat.
As of now they're on the schedule for a home and home. I'd bet money that's cancelled though. Our choices are either a lot of 6 home game schedules or no more road games at G5 schools.
Look for Troy, USM and Tulane to be next on the chopping block. Memphis might survive if we can't do something about the Texas Tech series (I'd be looking to reschedule that road game for another year).
