I know its 18 years old, but I'm going through my 3rd watch through with my GF(her first watch) during this pandemic. The show is easily my top TV show of all time. So much phenomenal acting with great story lines every season. Not sure theres a single bad episode. Free right now on HBO.

After this starting The sopranos as I've never seen it. Hoping thats just as good.

I’m in the minority lol think OZ is better than Sopranos

ALL fantastic groundbreaking series though

I’m currently on season 3 of The Wire( first watch). The writing is excellent and some of the characters are great, i.e.. Omar and Bubbles. I’d definitely put in my top 5 already.

The Sopranos, Deadwood, and Breaking Bad would probably be my top three shows. I have yet to watch Mad Men

I finally watched The Wire last year after hearing how great it was and it was pretty underwhelming. It's probably better than most basic cable shows but Game of Thrones destroys it. All three seasons of True Detective were better too. Fargo on FX is better. I seriously doubt people who claim it's the best show ever actually have seen it.

The Wire is definitely top 3. My favorite seasons are 2 and 3 with the dock workers and middle school kids. Season 5 was not the best but still good.

The Sopranos and Breaking Bad are my others in the top 3.

I have a friend who's been telling me to watch Oz for years. Maybe I'll start it after I finish Peaky Blinders.

The Wire is the Michael Jordan of TV Dramas. The Sopranos is Kobe. Game of Thrones is LeBron.

The Wire is the GOAT. End of discussion. No other show did more with less. They made a mundane topic.. police wire tapping and low-level drug dealing.. into "must see" TV. Not many shows have done that.

Oz was great, too. It was one of the early series, and I think one of HBO's first. Very raw and gritty. But super depressing. Like, "makes you want to never commit a crime" depressing.

I was very surprised by GoT, watching it in it's entirety a year ago. Loved it.

But the fact that two of the last three seasons were widely considered garbage, especially the way they wrapped it up, nullifies it from being on The Wire's level. You want to be in consideration for the best show? All seasons need to be 8's. And while The Wire had some seasons better than others, it didn't have a season that made people lose their ****.

The Wire is def best TV show ever. Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones...those are up there as well.
