Anybody watching this on Netflix? My wife and I are four episodes in and really digging it so far. I haven't read any of the books or played any of the games, so it took me a few episodes to get caught up. It's also isn't immediately clear that certain events are happening in different time periods.

Overall it's a really good show. Good acting and interesting characters. Hopefully since the books are already complete, it won't get jacked up at some point like GOT did.

The timeline was confusing at first but you just have to pay attention to when they mention what is going on with Nilfgard and Cintra.

My favorite episode is the dragon hunt followed by the law of surprise and the Djinn.

I finished it a few days back. Has a Game of Thrones feel to it with the time period, sex, violence and warring clans. I played The Witcher 3 in the past and think Henry Cavill plays the character perfectly.

I to was kind of lost with the time frame bouncing around and no mention of it. I can't remember when it finally became clear. I think it was when they showed the queen come in with her bloody armor on right before the party. I was like what is going on. Then realized oh that's her daughter and her granddaughter wasn't born yet.

What do you all think about the hunchback chick? Anyone else thinking "wood" even with that messed up back and jaw before getting it corrected to become a definitely "wood"?

Solid adaption of the novels by Andrzej Sapkowski. Worth watching for the action and reasonably generous nipple count. I read where Netflix already renewed it for a 2nd season.

Just finished it yesterday. Liked it quite a bit. Had to watch with the remote in my hand as dialogue volumes seem to go way up and then way down. Add in the British accents and I had problems understanding what they were saying at times. I was constantly turning it up, then way back down. But liked the storyline. Also struggled a bit with the timeline and the episodes jumping around but kept up. Yennefer is very pleasant to look at and hasn't been too bashful about showing some of the goods. All good things. Looking forward to season 2.

We turned on closed captioning midway through the first episode. Helps out a lot with the volume changes, accents, and weird names that we weren't familiar with.

I was introduced to the Witcher by playing the game trilogy (would recommend to anyone who still has time to play games). Then I read up on the stories. Love the world create by Andrzej Sapkowski.

The series is solid and I like it. They of course added and left out a few things from some of the short stories. Also issues like Vilgefortz being bested by the Nilfgardian captain in a sword fight with ease.

But all in all an enjoyment and I’m looking forward to season 2.

That's a great idea. Hadn't considered it for The Witcher although we did it for Broadchurch series on Netflix - those thick Scot's brogue were too tough to decipher.

Loved the first season. Looking forward to the next season, especially since I read that the emperor of those Nilfgaard people is...

that the emperor of those Nilfgaard people is actually Duny (Cirris dad/hedgehog guy) now. Not sure if we know this in S1 or not, if so I missed it.

I am only on the 1st episode but isn't Yennefer the hunchback with the dip of Copenhagen? Because she isn't that pleasant to look at unless someone conjures up a spell to get rid of that hump on her back.

I watched the first season and really enjoyed it. I have not read any of the books nor played any of the games. So, like others have said, it was a little tough to follow at times, with multiple storylines going at the same time. Looking forward to the next season.

Started it last night and really enjoyed. I think I will turn on Close Captions as someone mentioned above, felt like I missed some of the dialogue at times.

Okay I am now about 3 episodes in and I didn't realize all of this. I may have to watch it over when I finish just to see what I missed since it's only 10 episodes.

Some found this really frustrating, but I thought it was really cool when it all converged.

After understanding more of how the pieces fit, I rewatched the first episode. Made a huge difference. Made an already good show even better.

Also the fight sequences with Cavill were fantastic. Beyond the obvious weight room work, you can tell he really put in alot of weapons related prep as well

Makes me want to read the books. The only exposure I've had is playing Witcher 3......with the expansion packs. But the series has been quite good thus far.

I hope we get more backstory in season 2 on Geralt's childhood and how he became a witcher. I assume we will. He mentioned in one episode that they are unable to create more witchers. I have so many questions. Are they immortal like mages? Are witchers only made and not born? Are witchers all sterile? Are there female witchers?

You might want to read the first of the Witcher novels if you want more back story. They are not immortal as one of them was even killed in one of the Netflix episodes (he was found dead in a castle).

Witchers are made by drinking a potion as a child that either kills them or gives them the special abilities of a Witcher (heightened agility, senses, etc.). They then have to train for a decade or more to hone those abilities and learn how to kill monsters. Witchers also learn how to perform "signs" which are like a mild form of magic.

I wish the series went more into the special abilities. He uses the kinetic blast.....and he mentioned one time that he can smell something......but that's about it. I wish they displayed more of his special abilities........perhaps in due time, I guess.

Good stuff. I might need to check out the books.

Yeah I remember that another witcher was killed trying by the striga, so I knew they could be killed. I was just curious if they weren't killed if they would live forever without aging like the mages do. Earlier in the thread, someone mentioned (maybe you) that Geralt's storyline in the show spans 20 years, and he hasn't seemed to age a bit.

In the novels, witchers age slower than normal humans but they do age.
