The "World Cup v. World Series" thread got me to thinking...

How does your answer change, if at all,if the options are Team USA in the World Cup Final v. Mississippi State in Game 3 of the College World Series?

For me, I watch Team USA if the other option is MLB, but I watch every second of State if it's college.

That a true state fan would be Watching msu. But then again not everyone follows baseball.
I know a lot of state fans who follow football religiously but don't give a damn about what out baseball team is doing.

Edited to add: my *** would be watching my dawgs.

I would do as Johndawg suggested. But if I had to choose which one team would win it, I choose State all day long.

watch the ballgame live.

you can forward through the 15 minute halftime with 3 clicks of the 5 minute skip.

No seriously I'd probably watch State if I had topick onebut I would have to think about it. If somehow we had won a NC in one of the big 3 by then I might be more inclined to watch the World Cup.

I love State but I take the World Cup every day and twice on Sundays. I don't really give a rat's *** about baseball at any level, even State baseball. I take the approach that it's no different than State volleyball or women's hoops or golf - great if we win, but no big deal if we lose.

In 2014 (and 2018 assuming it goes to England) I would go to the WC final. Rio or London would be crazy, whereas the last year at Rosenblatt would be better than South Africa.

Realistically, it wouldn't be a problem. Just record one and watch the other later. But for the sake of argument, World Cup. USA in the final? No way I don't watch that live. No way. If you want to give me a conundrum, and since we are talking hypotheticals anyway, put a BCS championship up against the USA. Then I'd have a problem.

Pretty much anywhere the World Cup is being held > Nebraska. Even South Africa. Throw in a safari and it's not even close. Nebraska sure would need one hell of a Hampton Inn to change my mind.

everything else, including baseball, is window dressing (or a drain on resources, depending on your point of view).

I would rather watch ANY MSU sporting event over a World Cup soccer match. That includes women's tennis, track and field, or volleyball.

My world would come to a complete halt if State was playing for a national title in baseball. I was green with envy for those South Carolina fans last night.

But I'd have the sound on the Dawgs and the WC on mute. And if the TVs are of unequal size/quality, the Dawgs are getting top billing.

you wouldn't be able to find MSU on TV. ESPN would broadcast it in different languages for each channel. I think that in twenty years soccer will be more popular than baseball.
