And maybe this won’t be popular, but its the truth.
The SEC is 100%, tee-total trash this year. An absolute hot garbage league. I’m honestly not even sure it’s the 3rd best league at this point.
To that end, Texas, UF, and Tennessee are not good teams. I’m not even sure they are average. UF definitely isn’t. That’s what makes this so frustrating…we aren’t “so close” to anything except what….winning at home against mediocre or below average SEC teams? Even if we won all of them, I still don’t think it would make us any good ourselves. And we just keep finding a way to be arguably the worst of the bunch.
Look at Texas, the team that just stunk up the joint on our field until we just started absolutely shítting all over ourselves in the last 10 minutes. They did that one week after also going to OT against f-ing Kentucky. That Texas. That mid-as-hell team with the worst QB in the SEC. Well….if they picked some average P4 opponent instead of the team that is absolutely guaranteed to repeat as national champions, then they are 7-1 and right up there with Bama, UGA, OM, etc. And they are NOT good. Not even a little bit.
Vandy. Good God. Vandy. Everyone loves a feel good story. But Jesus Christ. If 17ing Vandy can go 7-1 in this league, then this league sucks. Period. You can’t tell me they have even the slightest chance of winning a CFP game. Yet somehow they might make it.
Alabama….our pride and joy….they get 17ing demolished by Florida State in week 1. Demolished by literally the worst team in what might be the worst league in the country. And they are now the highest ranked SEC team….and it took them a lot of good fortune to escape with a W in Columbia against another horrid team even worse than that FSU squad.
It’s legitimately the twilight zone. A bad league with a few mid teams being propped up by uneven scheduling and wins over goon squads like us, Kentucky, Arkansas, and USC…. schools who ALL might shitcan their coaches and are all winless in the league heading to November. Seriously, look at Texas, OM, Bama, UGA, and A&M and count how many of their wins are against those teams at season’s end. It will be a lot.
Lebby ain’t “close” to anything. He’s been gifted a crap league this year, a golden opportunity to earn some goodwill with the fanbase, and he has just absolutely achieved new levels of choke artist embarrassment.
