The Youtube videos on Keffer got me started watching....

....but we rarely hurt for runningbacks in the 90's. Davis, Keffer, JJ, Dicenzo. All were great backs. Some unbelievable footage out there.

I am still not so sure that JJ wasn't the best of the bunch when healthy.

the best of them all when he was in his prime. The guy loved to punish anybody in his way.

This reminds me, I sure wish Dixon had his first three years to do over -- the difference in him as a senior was amazing. Our all-potential team could've been pretty impressive, too -- Fair, Bouie, Dontae...

Watching those old videos made me remember that Chris Rainey did a hell of a job backing JJ when he was hurt. He came up big that year.

...Rainey didn't look too bad. Decent size and speed.

I know it had a ton to do with the OL, but Jackie had some great backs.

Dixon is our all-time guy, but I would probably take JJ, McGee, Norwood, and probably Dicenzo over him.

Or Norwood, for that matter. Those two got stuck on some craptastic offenses.

As y'all said, JJ was simply outstanding.

Who would I pick to be on my team right now? Talking about in their prime... Mine would probably be:

Norwood
JJ
Dixon
'Zo
Keffer

*Note: David Fair would've been high on this list if he had a chance to have a 'prime'. For anyone who never saw him play, you missed something special.

football, Norwood might have to be the guy. Michael Davis would be a fullback. Can't even imagine JJ in the spread.

That said, back then, those guys were men among boys.

In terms of Dicenzo v. Dixon, I bet Dicenzo would've great in Mullen's offense. I think I'd take him. He was more versatile.

Yeah, even our backups were pretty good. Kevin Booie(sp) could have started on a lot of teams. Fred Reid (who I'm pretty sure fumbled out of the endzone against Maine) was a real scrapper.

...those two plays have to be the two best individual effort plays since I have been following MSU football.

There have definitely been bigger moments, but in terms of one guy's effort, those have to be it.
