to the Gator bowl about their upcoming coaching vacancy. It's the first I've ever heard of it, so wondered if anyone here had the scoop. I'll hang up and listen.

They were going back to old school powerfootball. It was just like Bill Callahan going to Nebraska. The spread was just not Michigan football and they were not going to give it a chance.

Their offense put up big numbers last year. The D was the problem. Of course, the O couldn't do **** against our SEC defense.

But I'm a little skeptical of whether Michigan would have wanted to talk with Mullen. Granted, Michigan's problems were on defense, but I was under the impression that their fans are traditionalists and despise the style of offense that Rich Rod brought to the table. Going after Mullen wouldn't exactly be a drastic change in approaches to football.

Who/What is TheBigLead? Other than having a website and a twitter account, what credentials do they have? I've never heard of them.

michigan. esp those with midwest/northern ties/roots. and given they were thrown into the same town, i wouldn't be a bit surprised if UM talked with mullen. agree that it might not have been the best fit. of course the only d-1 coach who wouldn't talk to mich would be nutt. his loyalty and dedication to ole miss is legendary...............................

... not sure if it was at a meeting, or if it happened over the phone, or what... but Mullen did tell Michigan "no thanks."

I have no clue how this became public because it was under pretty tight wraps from State's side of things. I never really understood why it was such a closley guarded secret though. It would help us tremendsouly in recruiting for kids to understand he said no to the Big House.

Nutt has used the "I've been contacted by ____________" to use as contract leverage as we all know. Just may have been that Mullen did not want it to look like he was pulling a Nutt.

Just about every decent coach at any level gets contacted about job openings. No need for folks to get their gonads in a vise about it. And, the coach is a dummy if he just turns them down without even the courtesy of a conversation. Just good business.
