Love Theiro but he needs to stop hanging on the rim or he will get T’d up. Almost like he’s daring the refs to call it on him. Love the tenacity he plays with though.
I don't think hanging on the rim is called any longer (on any team). I think now they only call it if it is extreme, like Z doing a chin up. Don't think I'll ever forget Trey's reaction when he did that (lol).

In Europe they allow that chin up. So, I figured Big Z would get hit with that eventually.

I've been ringing the bell for Theiro since the beginning of the season. I wanted him over Edwards. Now Cal is forced to give the low * rated player major minutes due to Trey being out.
Look what happened!

Thankfully they don't call it as much anymore. That was one we could absolutely count on them using against us in close games over the decades.

But honestly, I don't think Thiero goes that crazy with it. There are dudes who do a lot worse.

You just taught Cal something. Ugo does not need Mitchell on the court. He just needs some bulk to help him out in switches/loose balls, etc.
Thiero becoming the glue to our half court offense.
If Ugo continues getting better, and Thiero can learn to finish on drives, Mitchell becomes a backup.

If it’s ever going to be called it would be called on us and at an inopportune time. We are still the only team to be called for a 3 second violation this year that I have seen.

I couldn't believe when the goaltending call went in our favor last night. That is the only goaltending call ALL YEAR and one of very few calls in general that went our way.

Regardless, the administration of goaltending MUST change. It's utterly corrupt and insane.

I agree; same thing happened to them as with us earlier, they lost a possession. If they're going to review it, it should be right then...

They have had a lot of dumb rules. Not sure there is one that is dumber than that one. It’s quite funny that anyone thought that was a good idea and then other morons voted in favor of it.

That effort from thiero will help keep this turned around in the right way, he needs more time than Mitchell just for his physicality and motor.

I know people are saying how important Mitchell is to the team but I don't see it

If I'm coaching I'm putting Ugo and Thiero out there with Bradshaw and Mitchell coming in for relief.

We don't take that much of an offensive hit because for whatever reason Mithell isn't the same offensive player he was at the start of the season

Agreed. Bilas kept calling Mitchell the most indispensable player on the team and I just kept side eyeing the tv every time he said it because I don’t see it that way at all. With Thiero at the 4, who brings much more to the table than Mitchell I don’t see Mitchell as indispensable at all. Not that I don’t want him to because he’s a nice piece, but to me our best lineup is:

Sheppard
Rob
Reeves
Thiero
Ugonna

With Mitchell, DJ, Edwards, Burke, and Z as depth

Gotta quit throwing his body with as much wreckless abandon. Dude takes 2 hard falls to court every game. I love kids hustle n energy but he's going to ruin himself sooner than he should..... look I love seeing it as it shows his heart an fire but we need him not getting hurt too..

He was a WARRIOR last night!!! He is EXACTLY what this team needs to give us all of the little things needed to win these types of games!!

He still needs to work on his driving to the rim to either draw more fouls(because he is a GREAT FT shooter) or finish without getting blocked, but I LOVE his aggressiveness on both ends!!! He along with Reeves was the difference last night!!!

Mitchell is extremely important to the team, but so is Thiero. The 4 spot is pretty strong for us now if we get Mitchell back 100%. He’s been playing hurt for some time. 35 minutes a game was too much to play throughout a season. I’ve said that all year.

I want to see Thiero, Mitchell, and Onyenso get almost all the minutes at the 4 and 5. Bradshaw had his shot and hasn’t been able to do anything. It’s obvious Ivisic is way too far behind. The college game is too physical for them at the 5 spot. Play Onyenso there 25-30 minutes a game and go small ball with Mitchell at the 5 about 5-10 minutes and only play the Freshmen when it’s absolutely necessary.

I think the review of goaltending rule will be changed- not fair to either team to review a play several minutes later and then take points away- stupid rule- if u want to review it, do it immediately

Thiero was a monster tonight! Tough to win without him and back to playing much better with him on the court so much. Nothing wrong with Mitchell coming off the bench when he returns. We have to have Thiero back at UK next year. He woukd lead that team like no other.
Yes, that's what i was thinking. I really want Thiero back next year. People are talking about who will go to the NBA next year like Wagner, Bradshaw, etc., but I have been worried about Thiero leaving. I really, really want him to come back. If we could get him, Reed, Ugo, Dilly and a couple of others, with some of the new recruits coming in, we could be very deadly.

Agree totally. I don't think he is NBA material at this point but I fear seeing him transfer possibly. I certainly hope he is back at UK and that's where he should be.

Isn’t it funny how public perception works. Edwards was a top ranked recruit and high projected draft pick. According to mock drafts, Edwards is still projected as a draft pick. Thiero, on the other hand, looks better in every way than Edwards at any position. Yet, Thiero apparently isn’t a projected draft pick. And the kicker is Thiero is younger than Edwards too.

Thiero knows his role and he plays to it… He’s a great player and he brings energy every time he’s on the court!
