After watching all of our B1G opponents, there should be no excuses this year. I think MSU will dominate us in the trenches, but after that we should compete this year. I understand these teams are very talented, but we need to look competitive and take that next step. The coaching staff has everything they need to put out a good team. I'm not asking for a B1G championship, but games like the one against PSU are unacceptable. Get a gameplan together and make some noise.

while watching the BIG games today, I am really trying to figure out who is really over-rated and who is under-rated. A lot of this league seems to be really close in ability.

but did you notice - nobody managed to dink & dunk their way to an upset - or near upset - they all mixed in some screaming long balls - some of which were completed - and all of which served notice to the defenses that stacking everything up close will leave you vulnerable to getting seriously burnt deep.

And they all got offensive line play that was effective at times. They weren't trying futilely to establish the run without actually blocking anybody.

Unfortunately RU plays a risk adverse gameplan centered around establishing the run and trying to stay close enough to make arun in the 4th quarter. Our defense has been subpar so to be competitive next week philosophy on both sides of the ball need to change

What have you seen by RU this season thus far provides hope that the team will be competitive against most of the B1G teams on the schedule? They have wins over a bad Div1AA team and one of ...if not the worst Div1 team. Offensively, they don't have WRS that provide a downfield threat against legitimate Div 1 defenses. The OL is shaky and the QB is inconsistent at best. WSU was able to throw the ball all over the defense (granted ..right after they kicked 3 of their most experienced DBs off the team). PSU ran the ball for 300+ yds, PSU's offense is fair at best. I don't see RU having enough on offense or defense to win more than 4 games this year. From what I've seen ..they can possibly beat MD, Army and maybe Nebraska at home. They aren't going to win at Indiana. Forget MSU,OSU,Mich and Wisc....not winnable imo.

Wait..are you talking about THIS season? We should "compete" with whom?

Michigan? We'll by damn lucky to score on them. #2 D in the nation and have given up all of 14 points in their last 4 games (38 all season).

IU? 19th best O in the nation and scoring 36 PPG.

OSU? hint: IU's offense is damn good, and will put up 50 on us if we don't start to play D, and OSU is due to start "clicking." Oh and they're D is #14 in the nation.

Wiscy and Nebraska? Weird years, not too strong, but too much in the trenches for us to deal with IMHO. Wiscy isn't clicking on O, however, they have the #11 D in the nation.

Maryland and Army - winnable games, no doubt, but Army is going to give us a battle and Maryland moved the ball very well against a USF D that is much better than ours.

Your use of they instead of RU or WE turns me off completely.

Folks it all comes down to our O Line - you want long balls? Then make sure Laviano is not running for his life. You want a running game? Give 'em a hole.
