South Carolina and Auburn. We should have won at least one but I understand losing both. The other 4 losses - I don't fault anyone.

Next season - we will be a 7-8 win team b/c the schedule flips to our favor.

On these odd numbered years, we get 2 East teams at home, along with Auburn, Arkansas, and the nonconference games. Those 2 East teams will be UK and UT next year, which I think we will be favored in.Throw in a road game against OM which I think we should win, we should be at least a7 win team. Throw in a Malzahn-less Auburn team and I think we could get to 8 again.

...I have no idea how a SEC caliber field goal kicker can miss 3 FGs while playing @ home against a ranked opponent. Just how far does your head have to be up your *** for that to happen?

While everybody is bitching about Mullen's crappy coaching this season (including me), keep in mind the dumb17 FG kicker tanked the USC game. Not Dan Mullen.

they might have defaulted into the east championship, but we certainly should have beaten them.

It's also true that there is plenty of blame for Mullen to shoulder (pun intended) in those two games. In my mind, there are two indefensible calls in those two games that COULD have made the difference in winning and losing.

The first was in the Auburn game it was running on second and goal and Relf getting stopped. Obviously we could have run that on third but you HAD to throw it on second down. Scoring there give us the chance to either go for two or go to overtime. In either case, we still could have lost the game, but the momentum was definitely with us. In fact, I would have kicked it because I don't think they could have stopped us again all day.

The second was the first and goal series against South Carolina where we threw it on first and third down instead of putting Relf in and running it three times, or at least twice. That cost us four points.

The other crap like the QB shuffle, going for it yesterday on 4th and 1, not calling time outs against LSU.....none of that stuff really has had an impact on the outcome of the game. I might not have liked it when it happened, but it was inconsequential in the grand scheme. But the two things above...in my opinion those decisions are the difference in 6-6 and either 7-5 or 8-4, and that's a big, big difference.

And yes, I am counting the Egg Bowl already. If you want to throw it in my face Saturday night, archive it.

for those two games. Those are games where we could have won both, should have won one, and it's disappointing to be 0-2. But our other 4 losses - I think anyday we played them except with Georgia possibly - those are losses.

Bama, LSU, Ark, I'll give anyone.

UGA,AUB, and USC were ours to have.

But the common denomitator? 2 of the 3 were away games. I do think our loss of leadership at LB and OL were adversely affected byt the stadiums at georgia and auburn.

They are clearly better than Auburn and the beat themselves against USC with turnovers. I don't agree at all that that's one that should be looked at as a missed opportunity.

and how much did they win by on their home field?

Subtract one from the other and explain to me again why at that time of the season, we would have lost to them 7 of 10 times.

We made mistakes in that game like we have done in every other game. Georgia moved the ball all they wanted to until they realized they didn't have to score any more. We didn't break 200 yards until late in the fourth quarter. We're not going to agree on this obviously but it's OK for you to be wrong. Most people can take off the maroon glasses and know they are significantly better than us.

It always seems like whatever he calls- if it's even halfway aggressive, it seems like it never works.

I'm not taking up for him, but what are the odds of that happening to anyone? It's uncanny.

There are times where a coach is going to have to make a tough decision, but it seems like it's always gone against us this year. And that's frustrating to me.

If la tech decides to kick a FG instead of passing the ball near the end of regulation.

Until something dramatic happens like Saban or Miles leaving, the chances of beating Alabama and LSU are slim no matter where we play them. So I'd rather have Auburn and Arkansas at home, since home field advantage could tip those games in our favor. I really think we would have beaten Auburn at home this year, and prior to Saturday's debacle I really thought we could have beaten Arky at home.

But I'm not talking about that. I'm talking about making a decision that just simply doesn't work out.

Look at Les Miles- he has made some bad decisions and they almost always seem to work out.

moderately high to ridiculously high aspirations - I was excited with this schedule because I felt we had a shot to beat some of the great teams like Bama and LSU at home.

And then the Auburn game...

thought we would be. Had we have been we would have beaten Auburn and SC and been 8-4. Still wouldn't have beaten AL, LSU or Ark and likely would have still lost a close one to GA on the road. The defense after the first few games HAS lived up to expectations but offense and special teams just aren't what we thought they would be. But still looking at the 2 swing games, the defense wasn't up to par in the Auburn game and offense didn't get it done in the SC game. I think the biggest issue with this team is the big OL dropoff from last year and Relf just losing all his self confidence (or getting injured as some have rumored) after the Auburn and LSU games.
