that within 24-48 hours Earz will no longer be the HC at Auburn. One wonders if Sexton has been busy putting something together.

I think you've got to cast the bread on the water with that one, understanding that he HAS to get his **** together and hire a bang-up OC.

That 6 million dollar buy-out is going to be hard for AU or any one else to overcome - He's under contract an will most assuredly be @ AU next year.

I think he'll probably take a year off, and I think he should. I contend that one can only do this job at this level for so long before it wears you down. We've already had one coach burn out, I'd rather not have another.

...we strongly agree to disagree with this guy. Tubbs would be a great hire, in my opinion.

1) Imagine the egg bowl.
2) Multiple division championships in OUR DIVISION
3) Went undefeated very recently
4) Has recruiting in our region for years, and done so successfully

If you can get him, you have to get him. And with Clemson and UT off the table, wouldn't we be the best school available for him?

Listening to Finebaum's show is very enlightening. Callers from both sides are slamming Tubby.. (classless etc) Of course we knew that after his days up North. Just say NO to Tubby or any other coach who was recently fired for losing at his previous job.

The guy went 5-7 at Auburn this year, and looked absolutely pitiful down the stretch. I understand his track record and I think he's done a heck of a job, but he went 5-7 in a down SEC West at Auburn. That stinks of burn out. I watched that Iron Bowl Saturday and came away with the opinion of not wanting Tubbs at this time.

It certianly was, but his B/O wasn't even close to 6 million.

...but they just had a tumultuous season this year. He made a bad hire for his personnel and that shot the season. Just go read his wikipedia page. 85-40, and 52-30 in the SEC. 1 SEC title. 4 Division titles. Knows how to recruit the area. I acknowledge the risk of burnout, but the upside is just too high. Six nine win or more seasons in 10 years. And they were damn solid last year after we beat them.

Tubs and AU can reach an easy consensus on a reduced buy-out, especially if it's coupled with Tubs immediately stepping into another situation.

Usually Tubberville is able to salvage something, like he did last year. This year, his team was just pathetic down the stretch. It just doesn't seem like the same Tubbs. I could very well be wrong, but it just looks to me like he is burnt out and needs a break.

Auburn would want to get rid of Tubs, we would want to take him off there hands. A compromise would be reach to where neither school would have to pay a buy out.

...but I also think that the whole Franklin thing doomed the season. You can't change coordinators mid season and hope to really turn things around offensively. And their defense basically had what happened to our defense happen to them. They got sick of playing their guts out and not getting any offensive support and so they laid down some.

All of this coaching stuff comes down to choices based on who you could really get. If it's Petersen vs. Tubbs, then Petersen in a no brainer. If it's Tubbs vs. Graham, you'd have to stop and think. If it's Tubbs vs. Bowden, Dooley, Venables, etc. Then it has to be Tubbs.

more palatable but not what I want to see. At least he has won at two other SEC schools. I'm really disappointed at the way Auburn played down the stretch -- no FBS wins in October or November.
