There is some old fashioned hate going on between State and Ole Miss fans

Here, NAFOOM and in real life. Another State fan in my office took a Masoli jab at the Ole Miss homer in the office today and there was a loud 17 off and doors slamming.

There was a group e-mail just sent that we have a meeting tomorrow at 8 am sharp. Someone got fired over all of this.

Late 90s redux. We seemed to live in better harmony the last 8 or 9 years since we started sucking and they had that Orgeron experiment.

I've gotten to the point where I don't discuss athletics with UM coworkers, acquaintances, or friends. You are right. They are fine when poor ol MSU is the whipping boy, but when the tables are turned they don't want to hear it. Those tall tales that grandpappies of years past shared about the Dunkel national titles and other great achievements of the leather helmet era dance around in their heads, and they truly believe that they are still among the college football elite.

Let State have high expectations - well, they will tell us why we will suck ad nauseum. Let us laugh at their misfortunes, we are Hogville. The infatuation of NAFOOM with SixPack is hilarious. Thanks for reading.

He was our QB at that time. As he settled into the pulpit to begin his sermon Dixie/OM fight song(can't remember which) blared through the speakers. Some did not see the humor,50% of the congregation erupted in laughter. Thats Rebels for you.

after the UM at UA game bitchin' that he got lousy seats in Tuscaloosa.

My dad leaned back in his chair and said:

"Reggie, every other year, I have to go to that highschool facility, that you call a "stadium", in Oxford, sit in aluminum bleachers, and use the bathroom in a port-a-potty".

I was all like "dad, we gotta get you posting"

this morning. I was walking past my good friend, fellow associate, and Ole Miss fan's office. Walked past, back tracked, let out a "WAHHHHHAHAHAHAHA" and moved on. (Sorta like in Purple Rain after his father is shot, if you get the reference). When I got to my desk I had an email that just said, "%%+! you". I love it.

It's not like we were basking in glory in the Orgeron years, and I grew up in Vicksburg in the 90's, so I just don't know what the %$!! you're talking about.

pot kettle etc.

At least both fanbases aren't expecting 4-7 seasons now. The dark ages of college football in MS are over for now.

I understand he's a great guy and clearly he runs a successful business, but when it comes to writing he is awful.

they schedule so much better than we do that they still have a decent chance of winning more games than we do this season. us going 5-7 is absolutely in the realm of possibilities and them going 6-6 is sortof a no brainer.

so at the end of the season, there's a significant chance that a lot of the folks around here gloating at work about their downfall will be hearing "at least we aren't at home again during the holidays" comments.

so do yourself a favor if you are the type that also hates being screwed with, stop while you are ahead. if you have thick skin, give them unmitigated hell. HD6, this apparently includes you since you have to live a C34 free life.

Even though we were better than them last year, we sat at home while they got to go to Dallas and play in the Cotton Bowl. All because of their ******** schedule. It's a 17'n joke.

I'd love that schedule every single year. Or this year's schedule for them. Screw having to play a team like Houston on the road. Or at home for that matter. Because of their schedule, they are now perceived as being the superior team in the state of MS, which is complete horseshit.

No matter which fanbase you're talking, once they realize you're a MS State fan, you're automatically the *****. They'll bring **** up every time it's a player ruled ineligible, or shooting a gun on campus or beating up a cop. But you mention a coach that beats up a cabbie, has sex with a stripper, sends 5000 texts to a TV anchor, or loses a game for ****** clock management, and you get a "%%+* off".

Also, is this "Gene's Page Lite" **** supposed to imply that NAFOOM is more edgy and more realistic than SPS? They're both websites about sports. Which pretty much means that 85% of the people here are ********* and homers, just like every other sports board on the internet.

Maybe I don’t run in the right circles to see the hate in person. I work in the finance department of a large public company in Memphis. Nearly every SEC school is represented in our department and we give each other holy hell on a daily basis, but there isn’t anything I wouldn’t do for any of the State, LSU or Bama grads in my department. Hell, I came to work this morning with an “Oxford Parks and Recreation Department” sign on my office door. Everyone laughed, I laughed, we moved on and lived our lives. Now I’m not saying that I’m one of those people to claim to pull for State expect when we play them, but I watched the Egg Bowl with a group that was half Ole Miss and half State fans last year, and there wasn’t a cross word said between us. I guess what I’m trying to say is that generalizations about fan bases are all fine and good and make discussions easier on a message board, but I do hope you guys realize the people you’re talking about only make up a small fraction of our fan base, just like the morons make up a small fraction of your base. To act like there’s any meaningful difference between State and Ole Miss fans is disingenuous at best.

The "GenesPage Lite" stuff comes from the fact that they liked it better over here when they could join in with uscomplaining about how much we sucked. Heaven forbid we be optimistic and enjoy the misfortune of our rivals.

I was talking to an Ole Miss fan today and he really thinks that the appeal will work and that he will be cleared between Friday and Tuesday because that was what Pete Boone said.

I kept my mouth shut because I was at church.

Regardless, Ole Miss fans should really be mad at Nutt for putting themsleves in this situation, and not the NCAA for not certifying a guy that obviously is transferring to play football at Ole Miss because he couldn't play at Oregon because he committed a crime. Because Nutt took this chance, he has sent a bad message to his starting QB, he has caused him to get fewer reps in practice, and basically has wasted precious time practicing with Masoli. Because Nutt took this chance, now they are at the mercy of the NCAA with this guy. And then what? You bench the guy that has been starting, has managed to keep his nose clean, and has been with the team since day one so that this ringer can come in?

I can't tell you how many times I have seen an Ole Miss fan on this very board compare Masoli to Cam Newton asking "what's the difference?" THIS is this difference.

I will say this- I was against Dan going after Masoli when there were rumors of him looking at MSU and I am still very glad that we did not go after him. What's going on right now is exactly why. Although, we may not be in totally depressed mode since we have Relf and we have the indian mounds to blame stuff on.

is they do not see that Nutt is at fault.

This:

he has caused him to get fewer reps in practice, and basically has wasted precious time practicing with Masoli.

they are blaming on the NCAA for taking so long with a decision and not letting them know sooner

While I'll try to understand your logic, it still does not makes sense. Who is to say we would not have beat either/ or both Houston and G. Tech. Truth is state lost to both arkansas and lsu while we did beat them. Had those games went differently, your argument may mean more. Although State did beat us last year I would be very cautious to procaim and consider you guys the superior team. Example, yes we beat Florida in 08' but no one seriously acted as if we were superior and deserved the national championship. I cannot wait for this season to start...

Our problem last year was turnovers, not anything else. Sure our D had some bad games but TO's are what killed us in the Ga. Tech, Houston, LSU, and Arkansas games. When everything was clicking we were a good team - this is why I think we'll go bowling this season.

In any event, if we had traded our Non-conference schedule (Houston, Ga. Tech, Jackson State, Middle Tennessee) for yours (Memphis, SE Louisiana, UAB, Northern Arizona) last season we would have been 7-5 after the Egg Bowl. That's what people keep talking about. It wasn't the SEC wins, it was the OOC schedule that separated our teams last year. My opinion is that if you had played Ga. Tech and Houston last season you would have lost at least one of those.

to be far more reasonable then NAFOOM. If the same thing had happened to us we would be pissed off but I seriously doubt you would here us over here talking about suing or how we got screwed (other than the timing, you guys have a right to be pissed about that). I just don't see a lot of people who post regularly here arguing without sarcasm that the NCAA should allow a felon to play without sitting out a year.

In truth, I think we would be more pissed off that our coach let a guy without a waiver in hand take 50% of the reps and a huge amount of coaching time leading up to the season. That's just ++$**+! stupid.
