And it should be after spring camp. I don’t know why this is so hard to figure out. Having the one window right in the middle of the playoffs is just dumb

It is dumb and its leading to the insanity that is taking place in the coaching carousel today. No team looking for a coach and no coach moving to another college job can wait until after the playoffs anymore.
I have actually heard some chatter about basketball teams going out and finding a Euro or a G-League player to fill a gap in time for conference play this year.
Crazy times for sure but don’t count on a bunch of college administrators to figure it out.
I think it’d be nice for players and coaches to be able to get transfers in for the spring, but of course they can’t allow mid semester transfers (I guess we’re sticking with the farce of them being student athletes?), and it’s not worth disrupting the playoffs just so players can be there in the spring.
I think they have to sit out for this year and can play next year. We should be doing this right now even if they can’t play until next year.
Also early signing period should be in August, not a few days after regular season ends. That said, I’m glad it’s the way it is this year. If the current signing period & portal are creating instability in Oxford, are they really that dumb after all?
You are correct about transfers. Not sure that applies to first time college players as long as they start within five years of high school graduation.
There is only one window now. And only 4 teams are still playing when it starts.
I don’t disagree with your spring window though. More players will know where they stand and it’ll make the postseason more enjoyable. At the same time who wants to go through spring practice if they know they are leaving? But maybe it’ll discourage folks to do it.
The heck with this. Get 5 Tuba players from the famous Maroon Band and teach em to block. There is your depth! Then at Halftime they can go march with the Band! And yes, I realize we have a female tuba player in the band but if she is a quick learner in blocking schemes……

How about just eliminate the damn portal. If you want to transfer go ahead, but you are going to sit out the next year. If you don’t like it then don’t play football. Go get a job.
