I can't link it but maybe somebody else will. It made me smile. It talks about Denver's needs and then references what Hochstein did for the Pats for many years.

There's a wrench at the top of this thread, just below the title. If you click on that and then "edit thread" you can edit the title.I can't link it but maybe somebody else will. It made me smile. I think Russ played every position on their offense except WR and QB. I think one of his friends told me he even lined up at RB a time or two. He most definitely played FB and all the line positions including TE. He was just a really smart player with a great attitude that would do anything to help the team. Just knowing what your job is a great first step in playing a position. Great guy that has given a ton of cash to Hartington. As a Pats fan, Russ was the ultimate backup. Not sure he ever played tackle, but I know he played both guard spots regularly (especially since Stephen Neal was injury prone), and I'm pretty sure he filled in at center too when Koppen was hurt.
Didn't read the article, but the consensus seems to be that the Pats have their starting five, but they need quality depth, which is why I take it they are focusing on Russ.
Just a bit ago they traded Chandler Jones for Jonathan Cooper and a 2nd rounder. So there is our new Russ, I guess.

The Pats aren't actually "focusing on Russ" though. The writer was just using Hochstein as his example of what he thought the Pats needed. Depth, flexibility and the right attitude in their O line. You're right, I forgot about him lining up in the backfield. He definitely played some FB near the goal line.
