I'm not 100% positive, but pretty sure L1C4 was a Pitino thing. Now, that he's gone, sounds like a good idea to move forward. I'm seeing things such as 502, or We Are UofL.

is how it is being presented on social media. I can imagine younger fans embracing it, but older ones, perhaps not so much.

Reggie Bonnafon has been doing the 502 hand signs on TDs this year. Don't know if he is the "originator" or not though. I like hand signs personally; love the L's-Up!

LOL. I know exactly how you feel. That former coach who shall remain nameless is right up there with that other former football coach who also remains nameless.

At least the former basketball coach who shall remain nameless had a clue on how to actually coach the game. Can't say that about the former football coach (who shall remain nameless).

I think they are both pretty dumb, but wonder if Pitino trademarked L1C4.

I doubt Pitino trademarked L1C4, but to remove something because Pitino came up with it is just Silly. What’s next take down the YUM because Jurich, Ramsey, and Pitino had their hands in it. I like L1C4. But L’s up is good too. So we can keep both and the 502. More the better!

They all three have there place. Greet people with the Ls. Cheers CARDS, and L1C4 is an attitude. Pretty simple

I find it funny that L1C4 is considered a brand. Isn’t the Cardinal our brand even “The Ville” ?

Agree, but I'll consider another reference with the same meaning.

This isn't about replacing an old slogan with something more trendy like "502" which is nothing more than a location. "L1C4" is a mindset that says "the school comes first". That's esp. relevant in an era where the players and coaches are rising above the programs.

I don't want OAD kids becoming the image of our basketball program. Nor do I want that in any other sport. I don't want prima donnas on our campus. I want humble hard-working people, and I don't care as much how great they are coming in the door. Let them earn their greatness here.

Under an "L1C4" banner--or the equivalent...

L1C4 is awful. Always has been. Distancing ourselves from it would be the best scenario possible. It was created by someone who, not only didn't put Louisville first, was all about his own personal gain. L1C4 was never about Louisville or being a Cardinal, it was all about Pitino being the arrogant jerk he is.

Here’s why the 502 doesn’t work. Plenty of UK fans live in the 502 area code and some of the most loyal Cardinal fans don’t live in the 502 area. It’s great for Reggie but not for our fan base which goes well beyond just that area code.

NIT? Since the last 2 seasons under Pitino ended in the Round of 32 and before that a self imposed post season ban, the NIT wouldn’t be much worse in comparison.

Still I can’t see a team with a savvy Senior Point Guard with a ultra talented backup, one of the most versatile big men in the country in Spalding, VJ King, Anas and talented young guys like Nwora that are getting significant experience early ending up in the NIT. More likely to reach another Elite 8 than that.

Pitino is one of the all time greats in college basketball history. I will always be happy with 95% of what he did here. The end.

Sorry, I forgot this was the football board.

I have yet to hear anything that comes close to L1C4. Don't force yellow (or green) hand signals. It will fail badly.

Ultimately it’s the fans that decide. We choose to keep L1C4 and it doesn’t matter what the administration thinks. Grissom go $&&&$$ yourself.

I have no issues with L1C4, but I really like thee “L’s” up sign. It is true sign language used by the hearing impaired as the two fingers up is a U and the thumb out along with the index finger forms an L.

Using hand sign emojis as a brand is too millennial. We already use the L sign as our hand signal. I think it starts to get confusing. I especially don’t like the peace sign for the #2. No one in athletics uses the peace sign on a field, court, pitch, or diamond, but rather the pointer/pinky 2. I really hope this doesn’t become a thing.

I like 502 and I'm 42. The L1C4 thing was a little cheesy IMO but it seemed to work (I define that as everyone rallied behind it). The whole "502" thing is a little bit Pit Bull-ish to me but it's an improvement and it's moving on from the tarnished era.

I like L1C4 for the reason(s) I mentioned earlier.

One thing I do NOT like about "502" is that it appears to me somewhat exclusionary. The kids I see promoting it are from Louisville--Q has it tattooed on his arm. What about everyone else in our programs?

In essence, 502 is Jefferson County and not just U of L. That's not a good enough mapping for me esp. if kids from outside Louisville can't as easily identify with it...

Too many movements going on at once. One to replace L1C4, one to push out Papa Johns, one to get rid of Adidas, one to keep Padgett as head coach, one to replace him, one to get rid of ULAA....

I just had a movement that clogged my toilet, and it describes my thoughts about all of these other movements.

I am personally a big fan of pulling in players that identify with 305. Best athletes in the country. I agree though that individuals can flaunt there home town, but it doesn’t really mean much for the university as a whole.
