I don't know what to think. Just about everyone of y'all are making great points-- I agree with Rebfan that the fully redacted versions--clean enough to actually protect the source-- would be a joke. MSUDawg's points about calling out the cops just because you know your clean being ill-advised, and that most HC's probably don't have a clue about secret sorority BJs and hundred dollar handshakes are valid.
I'm guessing that Freeze got galled that instead of getting admiration & "glory" for putting together a great class, he was derided as a cheater. He blew his cool, tweeted something true but what amounts to a taunt, and Bjork immediately reeled him in. It's not like someone hasn't lost their cool on twitter before. If OM is clean, either those emails burn a source, or look like swiss cheese for all the redactions, and the "cover up" cries go up again. I wouldn't want to embarrass players, coaches or alums by publishing charges that simply cannot be proved one way or another. How do you investigate "I saw Coach Dix give Bo Wallace 3 Benjamins!"?
If you can't prove it, by releasing it, you set yourself up to embarrass potentially innocent people, or worse-- open yourself up to allegations of slander. If they were given those tips with the understanding they were confidential, could they release them even if they wanted to without facing possible legal action? On the other hand, if you turn yourself in... Well, that's ill-advised too.**
Everyone of y'all are making great points, but this is a complicated issue even if your clean. If your not, this would probably still be the best way to handle it. I dunno...
