This game isn't being decided by the refs.Poor defense more likely the reason .

We’re not going to get the A team in the NIT during the first week of the NCAA tourney

Hofstra literally couldn’t miss. Even had a bank 3 pointer not Simpson’s fault
He was late on recognizing the picks and it gave his that split second where he could get a clean shot off each time. During regulation he stood still 3-4 times on what should have been hustle plays by him and Hofstra wound up with the ball each time.

But that bogus call on Paul where the guy flopped with Paul not touching him could have been the difference in the game. He got a 1 & 1 from that and sank both free throws.

What about the foul called on Estrada?

The refs were trash

Yes a few really bad ones in first half - that call at the end of the first half against paul was simply laughably bad. Just pathetically bad.

But we got a few very critical calls in our favor in the second half.

Overall refs are waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay down in the list of reasons for that loss. Waaaaaaaaay down

No, the refs are not why we lost overall. It was Hofstra on cheat code mode in OT where everything thrown near the rim was going in, and us missing too many FT again in a tight game.

That said, this was a poorly officiated game even though several calls went our way. That end of half call on Paul instead of them was a possible 4 pt swing. Could've been the difference for sure if they got that one right.

Oh well.

What about the foul called on Estrada?
Read from the near the top of the thread, already said it was bad both ways with their calls and non-calls and it impacted the flow of the game.

Cliff spent a lot of the 1st half on the bench with that ridiculous 2nd foul. Woolfolk did a decent job but the lead would have been bigger if Cliff was in the game.

I think both teams would have preferred a more consistently called game.

RU would have been better off with Estrada in the game, he was not playing well at all. So ya the refs screwed us. lol

I was responding to your post about Rutgers would have won if not for the foul called on Paul at the end of half

Cliff was put in foul trouble for no reason. The foul differential much of the first half was a complete joke. Yeah.. Hofstra shooting beat us.. but the refs put cliff on the bench. Hofstra averaged 16 fouls per game in the regular season and did, what? 12 in an overtime game against a Big Ten team? 5 in the first half?

We never should have accepted the NIT invite like UNC. Absolutely nothing to gain and given what a slap in the face it was to not get teh NCAA invite it was just too easy for this team to be unfocused and unimpressed by an NIT game vs Hofstra. That whole first half it was like out guys expected all they had to do was show up. And the refs treated Hofstra like they were teh one seed on their home court.

And now the NCAA.. who owns the NIT and pays the refs can say.. see? we did the right thing... whereas, if we did not accept.. the question would be out there.
