Yes, if it means us getting the type of players Ole Miss got last year? Yes indeed. The only people that think Freeze comes off as a buffoon are those that are getting their *** kicked by his team and in recruiting against him.

Hudspeth is not Freeze. He would likely bring the energy and excitement but keep the "People's University" mantra. Besides, the only he could do worse than Mullen is to lose to the cupcakes on our schedule, because that's the only teams Dan can beat. The ones that are incapable of driving the length of the field when we go into our second half shutdown

Well, I dunno. I thought Freeze came across as a buffoon before he beat us last year. But ... if it takes a "good ole boy" personna to get a good team, then I'd agree that we need someone like that. I just don't think that's what it takes. And I don't really buy the "People's University" mantra.

And ... I know nothing about Hudspeth. I just don't know why people think he would be so great. His record isn't stellar. He doesn't seem to have any national recognition like Jackie, Mullen, and even Croome have. If we could get a Petersen, then I'd say go for it.

I don't even know where to start.

You say you don't know anything about him, and then say "I just don't know why people think he would be so great". Maybe you should learn more about him and then you would know?

And why be against a guy that you admittedly know nothing about?

I'm not necessarily against him, but he doesn't have a stellar record. And I've always thought Mullen was pretty good, at least until the last few games. Admittedly, I'm beginning to wonder now.

What do you know about him? Apparently you are intimately familiar with him. Care to share why he's so good? I, and others, might be more convinced then.

If you "know nothing", why try to discuss and speculate on it as if you do? It comes off terribly..

Why do people think Hud would be great? Let's see...
- Hud was OC for a national championship team @ Delta State under Steve Campbell. The same Steve Campbell that has had the best offense in JUCO for 8 years and built a total powerhouse at Gulf Coast and would, almost assuredly, be Hud's first choice for OL coach at MSU if not his first choice for OC.

- Hud would also, almost assuredly bring Kenny Edenfield from Troy as OC/QB coach. The same guy that has never had a passing offense outside the top 30(Petrino has shown that a "second rate" SEC program gets to the next level through the air) and has had incredible success in a spread without a run threat at QB. Hud is the running QB spread guy. It makes for a nice combination.

- Hud went to the "final 4" in D2 playoffs 3 times in 7 years at North Alabama. He was in the final 8 five times in 7 years. That's a division with 286 teams.

- He went 9-4 and 9-4 at ULL. These are the two best years in the history of that program -- and is traditionally the equivalent of winning at least 10 at MSU in back-to-back years.

- Total HC record - 85-31(57-19).

- Hud would be the best MS highschool recruiter we've seen. He turns weaknesses into strengths with ties at Madison Central and South Panola(and Calloway this year). HE was the one that got Brassell to commit to us and had Singleton basically in the boat as well. CJ Johnson committed to him as well.

- Alot of talk that he neutralizes Bracky to an extent. They are lifelong friends and went to school together. Bracky could be less inclined to go out of his way to "hurt" Hudspeth's program...

- HUD is an MSU guy through and through -- From Louisville. MSU is his dream job. He would have success here -- and he would stay here...

Whenever anyone brings up the fact...

...that Hud coached winning football at Winston Academy in the late 90s, I can't help but think that I saw Winston play once while he was head coach of the Patriots and they lost to Wayne Academy.

(Granted, that was a Jaguars team that finished that season as the undefeated MPSA Class A champs-- playing what was at the time -1998 - one of the toughest Class A schedules I've seen.)

Here is what is very, VERY, appealing about Hud-

He has won at every level hes been at. I also like how at different levels, he has had to have a different approach, so he has proven to be able to adjust which is something we have not had with our current head coach.

The offensive fire power at Florida was unreal. 8 or 9 of those players went on to start in the NFL. Tell me how much of a offensive genius you need to be to score points with that type of talent.

25-1. The only team that beat HUD at winston was west memphis in the semifinal game, I will admit, that was the only game HUD didn't dominate that year, but he got his *** handed to him that night. Wayne beat winston my senior year, under wa coach nick brewer, who replaced HUD.

Steely Dan's band is the best collective group of musicians, talent-wise, touring. I've paid good money to see them every time they come close. Ill be honest with you, I changed that avatar about four years ago, and at the time I didn't have the crowes touring schedule for 2013, but obviously, had I known, I would've gone with tits or something. But I do know CRob, his entire being on stage is all based on how the Georgia bulldogs play.

Seize the day, dipshits! Let's get our torches and pitchforks and ruin Mullen! We lost on the road to AU in the LAST 10 SECONDS and there is an epic s'pack meltdown--one that will accomplish nothing other than possibly ruin our 2013 (and beyond?) recruiting class. The OM troll has pulled off a classic bait & switch and 3/4 of this board went for it. NO WAY is Mullen going to get fired this year--even if he only wins 4.

So y'all 17up recruiting this year and next, giving the bears two more top 10 recruiting classes and cementing their domination of the state for another decade. When and if HUD is crazy enough to join this circus, his recruiting prowess would be pitted against a Bear monster we helped create, and HUD's *** would be pegged in the SEC cellar before he even got here. Beautiful. Wonderful. Brilliant.

"This board makes me want to drink" Not that THAT is necessarily a bad thing...

Wait, who is the ole miss troll? Me? You think Ole Miss fans secretly think Mullen is a badass and they want him gone so they troll state boards to try to get the guy fired? That's pretty foolish. You'll never be convinced though. Think ill ride up to proud Larry's for a I mean ricks for a drink.

So we now hire hudspeth and he fails a MSU's next head coach , does triton28 say he was wrong, I doubt it, he will just run his mouth again about someone else. Now that's not to say the Hudspeth wouldn't be a good head coach here but triton lives in this fantasy world that truly doesn't exist and believes that what he prints is the gospel and can only claim victory at this time because of our current situation. But again should his choice become a reality and a failure will he still yap probably not. Of course if this all plays out as he wishes and Hudspeth is successful then does he cheer for ULL anymore or does he becomes MSU's biggest fan, only time will tell.
