I'll be completely honest... I kinda feel sorry for their position. I remember in 2010 after we finished 8-4, there were rumors flying all week that we'd end up in Memphis after the year we had (being beat out for Nashville, Atlanta, and Jacksonville). I guess, however, it's part of the position they've put themselves in because they can't even bring good crowds to their hometown field (LP Field) the past several times they've been and the last time we went to the Liberty bowl, we broke all the previous attendance records. Can't blame businessmen for making obvious business decisions.

Flame away.

I don't feel sorry for them. They've had tons of success and still can't sell tickets.

That's my whole point. I mean it sucks if you are a Vandy fan, but it comes with the territory. We travel well and they don't. The liberty bowl would probably sell more tickets bringing South Panola up for a game than inviting Vandy... and that's the sad truth.

Have you ever been to Vandy for a sporting event?

I don't feel sorry for them. One of those pricks referred to us as LASSU-Low Academic Standards State University. Let all of those 5000 fans burn.

Exactly

They've only got themselves to blame. If they didn't have such a weak-*** fanbase, maybe they wouldn't get looked over.

Are they though? According to one of them you can buy Bud Light tallboys 5 at a time at Legion and the game is on a weekend...

Some of you spend thousands of dollars on living in a treehouse the months of deer season. Who cares if the stadium is nice? GIVE ME BEER! AND TIME TO NURSE MY HANGOVER!

A few of them are talking Pinstripe Bowl. Declining BBVA I guess. Can do they do that? Guessing not but would be awesome if so.

ETA: Aaaaand an Ole Miss fan is trying to sell them on BBVA being equal to the Liberty Bowl. Damn these people just don't stop.

It's their own fault. Their fan base has a ****** reputation for bowl traveling. Welcome to the repercussions.

I have a close friend who's from Montgomery, AL. He graduated from Vandy in 2006 and is a staunch Auburn fan.

They deserve whatever comes to them.

Well, MSU does have a higher Sagarin ranking and a lot better SOS.

They have two more wins and one more SEC win, but they have a #52 SOS and State has a #9 SOS. We're #44 in Sagarin and they're #45.

Heh, that was others' argument against us last year. Didn't work against us then and we still went to the Gator.

Someone called us un-watchable? That's funny because I literally can't watch Vandy games bc they are hard to watch. They do end up winning, but they win ugly. I saw the last 5 plays of the TENN game they just won, and like 10 plays of the UGA game this year. Oh yeah I watched a little of their blow out loss to TAMU in the first half. When I say a little, I mean like 10 plays max. They are painful to watch. Terrible QB play, even last year. When I heard ppl say Jordan Rogers might play in the NFL, I laughed.

They are smart enough to know, It's About the $...

Heck even if the fans are not going to the bowl game, buy the tickets anyway.

Shame on them.

What is funny is that yesterday they were all steaming about potentially getting 'jumped' by MS State. Now they all have talked themselves into B'ham being a better location. What a turnaround.,They've convinced themselves that they are getting "screwed".

In some ways it is better for them

Their players get to out of state, and enjoy the Bowl experience benefits...unlike last year, where they stayed at home.

Not much reward there.

Yes I know.

I brought up LP Field because they have been to the Music City bowl several times and can't sell tickets in their own hometown.

Did the Bears have 50,000 fans at B'ham last year? That's what one poster from OM on that thread said.

They took a bunch. A lot of them made one day trips out of it. Relatively cheap bowl game to make. No hotels, not much food, one tank of gas and tickets. Plus they hadn't been bowling for a while and Bucky had them high on winning the day.
