late last night I emailed Greg Byrne about an issue that had come to my attention. It wasn't an issue that anyone else would even care about...except for the person who was affected by what happened. Early this morning I got an answer to my question from Greg Byrne via email. Was it actually from GB? I do not know. However, I do know that SOMEONE answered me and answered me promptly. Wow. How refreshing is that? That in itself gives me confidence that our athletic dept is in good hands. I am a person who believes it is all in the details. One who pays attention to the little things, in my opinion, will be very successful and he will also gain a loyal following of ALL supporters. There is more to be gained by obtaining the loyalty of the "commoners" than to win over a handful of bandwagon "money dogs". GB is the man.

i email him a good bit and always receive a prompt response in some cases that only he would know or be able to give feedback on. The last one he responded to a couple of weeks ago was around 1 am. Working hard for the money....

we wondered when he was hired why he was paid the same amount as LT. Seems like we could have got him for a lot less considering. He deserves more than what we are paying him now.

once about the Cohen hire, letting him know that I support not giving in to Polk and received a response. Once about a silly rumor I heard here and over-reacted to which I did not receive a response about. I don't know what impresses me more, that I got a email back about the serious thing or that he tactfully just ignored the silly rumor email. He's handling the email the way it should be done in my opinion.

And I hope you do know that he is going after money bags, too. Mize? Adkerson?

The point is that you can and should do both, and he does.

agree, but damn, I don't even want to think about that. And you shouldn't either.

I would choose to keep Byrne and lose one of the coaches. Thoughts?
I'm very happy with Greg but I can't anoint him yet. I could see reaching this point in a couple of years though.

Greg responds to my occasional emails...and the response is always measured. If I get a little jerkish he gets a little jerkish. If I am polite he is polite. The response is always in equal proportion to my email. I respect that.

I've gotten emails back from him within a day numerous times. He's very good about that and very good about givin you an answer even if its something you dont want to hear. But, he also gives you the reasoning

I do realize that...it is quite obvious.

Before he was AD, I sent an e-mail response to one of the E-Bytes things they send out. Within 10 minutes our receptionist buzzed me and said Greg Byrne was calling. He took about 15 minutes to discuss the issues I had brought up in the e-mail.

listening to the bully barkline podcast, GB was talking about our coaches and their commitment to MSU.. GB say's "We're gonna be good... that's just the way it's gonna be." I absolutely love his can't-lose attitude.
