I'm from WP and have never heard that.

Not saying you're wrong though. He was just always known as the "A-Train" on the high school fields.

because every mention of the word "god" isn't meant as an affront to his religion.

If you're really offended by the term "god of war", especially in reference to the Greek god Ares, or the Roman equivalent, Mars, then you need to lighten up.
