Has anybody lived there/currently live there? Would you recommend it? How is the drive to Lou/Lex? Housing prices are great and it's the 11th biggest city in KY with lots of things to do that most smaller towns don't have, not to mention the proximity to the major cities on 65 and BPKY.

I don't think you could go wrong living there. It's like the middle of everywhere. Parkways go east and west, and I-65 will take you north to south. Lexington is 90 minutes, away, Louisville 40 min, Bowling green 60 min's, and Nashville is a couple of hours.

Lived there for 12 years

It’s a decent town with all the chain dining a person could want. Downtown has been revitalized over the last decade. Taxes are low. The town is politically and culturally very conservative and has strong ties to the military. If those things are up your alley, Etown would be great for you.

I would say its best selling point is proximity to Western Kentucky Parkway, Bluegrass Parkway and I-65. You can get to Louisville in 40 minutes, Lexington or Bowling Green in an hour or you have several really cool outdoor/recreation areas nearby such as Nolin Lake and Rough River Lake.

Not a bad place to live by any means.

Op why are you thinking about moving to E’town?
-I’ll be teaching at a college in Louisville one-two days a week and traveling for work the rest of the time.
-I can get much more house/land for the price there than Louisville/Shelby co
-I can take 65 to Louisville/Nashville and the parkway to Lexington.
-ETown seems like it has a small town feel while still having lot of restaurants and amenities.
-Seems like a good place for my family.

For all those reasons why not look at Bardstown? Closer to Lexington, about as close to Louisville (even closer to better parts of it). Probably not too different on places to shop, eat, real estate, school quality (not sure). Unless you really expect to travel to Nashville often enough for the 25 miles to make a difference.

Alot of UL fans there. There's more UK fans, but it's close. Probably 60% - 40% in favor of UK.

Meh, I am thinking closer to 61% / 39%.

It is not bigger or close to bigger than Bowling Green.

They have a GD Texas Roadhouse so its got that going for it.

I thought about moving back to Madisonville. Uh, actually I didn't.

Why are you thinking of moving there ? Job ? Like Hardin Co high school sports ? Pick it out of a hat ?

Be neat to live so close to the Eastern / Central time zone change.

Did i mention they have a Texas Roadhouse ?

Trip advisors top 5 attractions (Don't laugh i am not joking)

1. Swopes Cars of Yesteryear
2. Freeman Lake Park
3. Elizabethtown Native Park (locals only ????)
4. Historic State Theater COMPLEX (meaning more than 1)
5. Hardin Co History Museum (if anything like top attractions, it will be quite boring)

Now #8 on the list COULD be very interesting !!!

8. Brown Pusey House - Now I did let my mind wonder on this one, did not actually read what it actually is, did not want to ruin the possibilities.

Did I mention they have a Texas Roadhouse ??

Just how far can a mind wander on number 8? I mean, eh, I’ll let that thought go. Take the high road. Not that I’m high. And not that there’s anything wrong with that. I’m out. Not that there’s anything wrong with that either. Is there a way to make a non political statement without a statement? Non political of course.

My thoughts exactly. Which is why I did not look up what the house REALLY is. Could be a house run by the Brown family, could be ,,,,,,,,

Why Bardstown? Where would you all choose in the Lou area?
