What the actual f is the plan? Isn't it about making noise and disrupting the team on offense?

1. Joe Nolan- please stop.
2. Metallica intro- they are purposely killing it to cut off the F Penn State
3. Ham- handed all around, no build up, can't get a noise build, especially with #1

Seems like a lot of attempts just to suppress F Penn State.

Oh, and F Penn State

It comes through just as badly on tv FWIW. It truly sounds terrible, Let the moment f*cking build and play out. Nolan needs to calm down and For Whom the Bell Tolls is all that needs to be played. Who cares about the FPS chant? I get that the game production guy is a PSU alum, but come on

I was watching closely and cell phones are a huge reason why it never got that loud. Attention spans are decreasing at an alarming rate. As soon as the play is over, ESPECIALLY in the student section, the cell phones are out. Huge distraction for the fans and imo directly impact the noise/atmosphere.

Hiring a PSU alum might be the stupidest thing Rutgers athletics ever did.

I continue to reject the work of "DJs" at football games.

The attempt to script every moment between whistle and snap is futile and just plain awful.

As I said last night, there is exactly one football game that is scripted from beginning to end (play time excluded) and that game takes a full year to plan and costs hundreds of millions of dollars.

Now that is funny calling out the student section for cell phone usage. Just drive along any highway or road in the USA and you can see 100 cars and over half are probably on their cell phones …young and old alike. Technology is great but we have nobody to blame but society itself. They were having a good time. That is all that matters.

The under 25 crowd is a pathetic group. That's all they know how to do.

Third down has become an incoherent mess of noise from Nolan and the DJ. Rutgers still hasn't learned more, doesn't necessarily mean better. I don't even cheer until they're done, they're absolutely killing the moment and atmosphere.

Didn’t know a person can press that many buttons simultaneously! Seriously Nolan and whoever is running the audio and video board needs to be released from their duties. Stick with one thing and let the crowd noise grow organically.

Seriously welcoming your offense and defense to the field!!!
Stop!

Shocked I'm saying this...
On TV, never heard the RU band at all.
Heard piped in music, but no football band

I heard Temple was bringing theirs did RU?

Not a fan of bands, but think of most college games and fight songs are iconic.. hate Old Rocky top, but when you here it you know it's Tennessee Football game.

Why the heck do HS students have phones in school?

I’m not a teacher or administrator. I sub and sometimes am asked to fill in as an in-class aide. Which is a roundabout way of saying that I see a lot but have no say in any policies or practices. The older teachers and I roll our eyes at what goes on today.

does anyone actually have influence to get thru to the production guy? Jon Newman? The production on defense is terrible but especially on 3rd down. The entire home field advantage is being smothered.

I should add that this is in an affluent town with a very highly-rated school. Not AC, as my screen name might imply.

As is typical for you, the fundamental premise of your response in this thread is complete and utter ********.

Please stop trying.

..overall production has improved, but the relentless overlay between joe nolan and music last night was evident...Also , is it time to build a platform over one of the endzones and elevate the cannon from field level to above the end zone; seems that to highlight that action like alot of other teams would be nice...plus beneficial to the fans (mostly visiting section) behind the cannon...

IDK about that. We ride the Parkway to work 3 days per week. The amount of people staring at their phones while driving is concerning. I noticed two large work vans where the driver was drifting between lanes because he was doing something on his phone.

OP is right, this is the worst 3rd down production since the birth of the scoreboard
I noticed that the new ribbon board that has the score, down and distance does not have room for the play clock. It was not until the fourth quarter that I noticed they curiously stuck the play clock on the giant video screen on the middle to upper ledt side of the board. Seems like a small thing, but it's odd to be looking in 2 separate places for down and distance and the play clock. Rutgers being Rutgers.

Also, for those screaming about staring at their phones, since they don't have other game scores on THE SCOREBOARD, many people like to check scores of other games, sooooo.......

It's a single-digit percentage. It's not "half".

Says every generation ever.
There is some truth to that but this generation has severe disfunction in the frontal lobe of their brain due to their parents letting a smart phone and tablet raise them. Some of them have the brains similar to a middle aged coke head because of excessive screen usage.

There is a reason why they all have the attention span of a gnat now.

Not calling them out, just stating what I observed. Ive had season tickets for 20 years now and have always been next to them. The last few years, there have been MORE students but way less noise.

Trust me, I’m glad they showed up. It’s impressive how many came yesterday.

I drive Rte 4 five days a week. It's more like 5-7%. Happens more often at red lights.

Yeah, I missed that guy's half comment. But even at 5-7 or 10%, that's too many. We tend to say in the right lane, but the number of people drifting between lanes because they are staring at their phones is scary on the Parkway.
