we never had? I have heard either Bama or the Rebs for him for 3 years now. The ONLY talk I have seen or heard about him to us is on our boards, and that reallyonly the last week or so. I'd say it would be us stealing him from sombody at the last minute if we do get him.

If the location doesn't change, he's going to OM. That doesn't mean he won't cancel it or move it somewhere else should he be swayed our way...

You never know with this kind of stuff. The Ole Miss radio station may have organized the whole thing assuming he's committing to Ole Miss, and Liggins may have just gone along with it to this point. It may not be set in stone at all, who knows. If he is definitely announcing there and he is intent on doing it, then yes, he's going to Ole Miss, and we never had a shot. If we do still have a shot, though, then this very well could change.<div>
</div><div>Of course, the kid is basically from Oxford. It would be shocking for him to commit to State there, but it's not as though he's traveling to Ole Miss in order to make his announcement. It's the biggest area around where he lives.</div><div>
</div><div>I, for one, think we still have a shot. It may still be uphill, but we have a shot.</div>

We have a pretty good class, what do you expect a top 5 rated class? If we finish out with 3 of our top 5-7 we'll be a top 20 class. I'd love to have Liggins but it's hard to overcome family and hometown connections. But regardless of what the article says we're not 100% out of the picture.

Tells me 2 things, they don't want Liggins @ QB and that at the very least Mackey and Stoudt are gone. I almost feel bad for Brunetti, had he picked us and not WV we never would have taken Favre and we'd have a solid trio of QB's next year.

Actually Whitlow is being recruited as a QB/athlete. If we were to take him, he'd get a shot at QB, but may have to move to WR depending on how things shake out after practice starts. Picking up two more QBs isn't a bad strategy in that offense, especially when you consider that they both could play other positions.

<div>
</div><div>ABSOLUTELY no way we get him if that's the case. Zero chance. No way this guy goes on the square and announces for State. Things are usually as they seem, so everyone make peace with the fact that we've lost another recruit to Ole Miss.</div>
And they have lost to us: Quay, Nick, Autry, Perkins, Washington, Ducksworth, Coman, Redmond, Brown, Grindle.

Isn't this going to be a small class, seems like a pretty heavy load of QB's.

Whitlow is a plan B if Liggins goes elsewhere. So I doubt we'd sign both. As for the rest, we currently have: Brunetti (Jr.), Stoudt (Sr.), Mackey (Sr.) on the roster. On top of that, who even knows if Mackey and/or Stoudt will be around next year. Signing 3 doesn't seem like much of a stretch looking at that.

Where all I did is match high school players with schools that match their abilities. Its mind boggling what some kids do.

A QB like Jeremy Liggins that actually wants to play QB needs to realize that Bama will never use him at QB. A QB like Tyler Russell should realize that he should be at a classic pro style offense. A QB like Brunetti should only be in a run first offense. Same thing with depth chart just blows my mind.

There are only a few offenses that Liggins actually would fit into. LSU and Bama wouldn't fit.

I remember reading articles from cornerbacks last year that planned on going to Bama for "immediate playing time" in Bama's secondary. Really? Dre Kirkpatrick, Robert Lester, Mark Barron or Menzie are all going to sit?

My favorite is when I read a RB being recruited by LSU or Bama that are overloaded with RB depth actually thinking they are going to be the starter by mid season. Now if a player is willing to sit and wants to win, that makes sense, but if they want to play immediately then come on.

Unfortunately that would probably just make things worse in the end. Obviously the coaches aren't helping much either. How many players frmo Mississippi have gone to Bama expecting to be super stars and maybe get to play special teams? They'd actually have gotten the chance to play and develop at other schools.

I'm thinking he's going to do a radio remote w/a roll of toilet paper and a box of tide, a corndog, a jar of honey and a cowbell on the table. Then w/out saying anything or picking anything up he'll point at the billboard, walk off, get into a car, putRelf bubbleheads on the front and back dash, and drive off

Recruits are out to satisfy one of two things: their egos and/or their mommas. Anything said that either one of those two things doesn't want to hear is just noise and in one ear and out the other.

The same can be said once it's draft time.

and I think it is, then you have an announcement on the Square. Get it? That being said: It really WOULD be epic if he announced for us on the Square. I REALLY hope I'm wrong just for that reason. I would love to eat crow on this one!

Mullen will be there in disguise, and when Liggins announces for State, Mullen will come out and yell, "IN YOUR FACE! IN YOUR FAAAACCCCE!" and he and Liggins will ring the cowbell together.

or he wouldn't have said the Wallace signing might affect his decision "a little bit" or whatever. I still think he likely goes to OM because of pressure from local friends and family but he is a perfect fit for our offense. We are not "basketball on grass" like Freeze calls his offense. Our offense is more run oriented with some passing added in to keep the defense honest. I will say this, if Liggins is also a good fit for Freeze's offense then Wallace was not because they are 2 different styles. The only reason Wallace would have been a decent pickup for us is because with already having Russell we are going to have to tweak our offense to do more pocket passing even though that not really Mullen's first choice.

I keep hearing this from MSU fans and it leads me to believe you have no clue exactly what type of offense Freeze ran at ASU. Have you actually watched film from ASU of this past season? If you had, you would have noticed that his offense is very similar to yours in that he likes to spread it out and have a very mobile quarterback.<div>
</div><div>Liggins is actually a perfect match for the type of offense Freeze likes to run.</div>

and calls it "basketball on grass" then that is a very bad description because that doesn't describe MSU's offense to me at all. As I said, MSU's offense is primarily geared around a power running game with some option and a enough passing to keep defense's honest. To me "basketball on grass" would much better describe something like Houston was running with Case Keenum.

That's what Freeze is referring to. He isn't saying he wants to take a bunch of half-court shots. He wants a fast paced offense where everyone on the field is an athlete and a threat(except for the obvious lineman). Basketball isn't all about shooting the ball. There's a lot of running involved.</span></div><div><span style="font-family: Tahoma, Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); ">

I agree that MSU is a primarily run-oriented offense but I think that is more because of Ralph being a crappy passer(as far as SEC QB standards go). I don't see Tyler being successful at MSU unless they go pro-style but I'll admit that i'm wrong here if I am. Freeze WILL pass a hell of a lot more than MSU has shown with Ralph but he WILL also run the QB quite a bit.</span></div><div><span style="font-family: Tahoma, Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); ">
</span></div><div><span style="font-family: Tahoma, Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); ">Liggins won't be taking many snaps under center under Freeze's offense. Ryan Aplin was his QB at ASU and was also the leading rusher. They passed for 3800 and ran for 2000.</span></div>
