Congratulations fellas, the game is over and I won.
Me and 4 guys at the office had a bet if I could get 1000 views with a worthless post with a 1 month deadline.
The four guys said I couldn't and I said I could.
You won me $100.
Thank you
Good day, now it is back to the national boards where there is action.

Hough is already being talked about as this year’s championship winner. Some of y’all might want to get comfortable with that prediction or do you think someone is stopping them?

Only thing that can stop them is some type of regulation from the state and/or school systems that can regulate transfers. Probably won't happen though because too much money is now involved.

I agree, transfers have definitely changed the game. Until the state or school systems step in with regulations, programs like Hough will continue to benefit. But championships aren’t won on paper. The real question is whether another team has the talent and coaching to knock them off.

Nah, 8A isnt strong enough, the only team that would come remotely close is Chambers, and Hough is probably a 3+ TD favorite against them.
The only other teams that come close are Weddington and Grimsley.. and they are 7A.
NCHSAA needs to do another realignment with only 6 classes.

Hough is ranked No. 1 statewide, but Chambers is No. 7, Weddington No. 2, and Grimsley No. 4. I believe 6 classes would definitely spark debate.

We do have too many classifications but what the state needs to do is to have a fair playoff system. Playoff for private schools, all of them, a playoff for public schools that let athletes play that do not require them to live within a schools district lines, and another playoff for schools that require athletes to live within the school district lines. Problem solved.
I just can't see anyone thinking this is fair. I do not blame Hough or any other school for using their local rules to be as good as they can but the rules are not the same across the state. A few years back Hoggard had a student that played football his freshman year. The county had him districted at Hoggard. Upon farther review the county said that he acutely lives in NH district and made him leave Hoggard and go to NH. The county could have said, well that's our bad, and you have already started at this school and made friends and started playing with this program so we will let you stay. This isn't your fault. No, they uprooted him and made him start over. Compare that to what other schools are allowing with transfers. I would just like to see some consistency.

having different playoff brackets based on if the school has transfers or not will never happen.

8 Classifications are too many. NC should have 5 maybe 6 at most. This would eliminate split conferences and allow for a great playoff bracket in each classification. 8A is a freaking joke and will be for years. In the East you might have 3 teams worth a damn. 3 teams for the entire eastern half of the bracket thats just stupid. Schools like Richmond, Pinecrest , may never be all that again and Raleigh continues to build new schools and push talent to Millbrook and Rolesville(by the way you are welcome Rolesville). Even with the classification split back in the day you had much better playoffs than this crap. Hell you have schools that have 2200 kids in the school with 32 football players(Corinth Holders) in 8 A out east. What a freaking joke. I mean how many teams in 8A have a winning record??????

14 teams are 3-4 or worse
6 teams are 4-3
12 teams are 5-2 or better, with a few of them being rated low (Panther Creek, Green Hope, Friendship)
Hough is head and shoulders above everyone, after them, the top 2-9 are solid.
8A is not deep.

I agree. It's crazy. Eight classifications are too many, and it takes away from the excitement of high school football. When you have entire brackets with only a handful of legitimate contenders, something needs to change. Fewer classifications would create better matchups, tougher competition, and playoffs that fans actually look forward to watching. The gates would make great money

This will never happen but it would be interesting. Have a Metro division (Charlotte, Greensboro, Wilmington, Raleigh) that have a championship. Then have the rest of the state have a 4 class system based on student population. If you think about it things are trending in that direction any ways. Former big schools that would have been either 8a or 7a in todays system but no longer have the enrollment include: Anson, Scotland, Davie Co., Purnell Sweat, Lumberton, McDowell, Richmond is trending that way and i am sure i left others off the list. The Metro areas keep growing and creating more schools while the rest of the states population shrinks so why not get ahead of it?

I disagree! I think you are attacking the wrong division! 8A was the best of all the divisions. Only 12 teams out of the East and only 12 out of the West made the playoffs for a total of 24 teams compete for the Title. All of the other divisions(1A-7A) have 24 from the East, 24 from the West for a total of 48.

Only two 8A teams had a losing record in 8A playoffs last year…it‘s a lot more in other divisions.

Best thing to do is reduce the playoffs to 32 teams(NOT 48 Teams) 16 from East & West in all of the divisions( 1A-7A) except…for 8A(who has only 24 teams state wide) 8A was NOT diluted last year with a bunch of losing teams and the results were not as many blowout 1st Rd games. The final 8 teams(4 East, 4 West) in 8A were stacked and the games were good.

I feel that only Hough can stop Hough. I don't see anyone from the East beating them. I don't know how good Chambers is. They have played some good teams but no really good teams. They beat Palisades by 4 and they are the highest ranked team they have played (#55). I wouldn't be surprised if MC beats them. Anything can happens as these are still kids and sometimes preparing them mentally can be a challenge. I am sure Hough has a lot of confidence at this point and if they do not over look anyone or take any team lightly then they will win it again.

The only game I seen that Hough has played full throttle was against RH Northwestern. Score was 15-10 Hough. I would love to see a rematch in that game just to see the outcome

If this were implemented, Wilmingotn would just go to Hoggard every year

8A is definitely not the best division. Very top heavy...the East will continue to have maybe 3 teams that can represent and the West probably 2. And right now, Hough is so far ahead of everyone else that Rolesville, Millbrook and Hoggard are going to duke it out just to play them and none of those 3 wold be favored. I agree with SammyK that we shold have 6...let Hough and Grimsley go at it in the regional final every year

I have always said if you give me a 6 pack of beer and a sheetz Sub I could put together I could put together conferences in NC that would make sense and keep rivalries. But I would not go above a 6A classification.

I do agree with one thing, 8A is very top heavy but stats show games in the 1st round & 2nd round were just as competitive than the first two rounds of any NCHSAA division 1A thru 7A. Probably because they play less games with less teams.
All I’m saying is every division 1A- 7A should go to 32 teams(16 from the East & 16 from the West) and no byes(NOT 48Teams). Those divisions have more terrible first rd games by far. It’s diluted with losing teams.

Note: I’ll say this….The 3rd, 4th and 5th round of 7A is much better than 8A…. More great matchups and more quality games and that’s why 7A overall is the best division to watch…. I agree

How would that be any different than Hough for Charlotte area, Grimsley for G'boro and Rolesville for Raleigh?

At least when those schools are playing against each other they share similarities and resources that are way different than other areas of the state. Numbers continue to grow in those areas while the numbers continue to stay the same or drop in the more rural areas. Those areas are places people want to live. Hoke County is a growing county with the spill over from Fort Bragg but who wants to move their family to Raeford to be a coach. Not trying to throw shade on Raeford, some wonderful people live in Raeford but it ain't Wilmington or Charlotte or Raleigh or Greensboro. Like i said in my original post, it will never happen but we are trending that way. Look at who makes up the majority of the spots taken in the brackets and how they are seated.
