Marshall Academy and Brookhaven Academy allegedly threw their games last night to get into a lower division in the new MAIS playoff system.

Marshall was 8-1 and got down 37-0 in the first quarter to Washington School. Also, allegations of a softball team throwing an 8th grade pitcher to lose a game to get in a lower division. Jackson Prep threw a volleyball game to get the top seed in a lower bracket rather than the 4 seed in the higher bracket.

Prep did not throw a VB game. Thats nonsense.
But the FB power points system is an embarrassment Hartfield is the 2 seed ahead of Prep and JA who both beat Hartfield (as did MRA).

Let's just say this. Prep volleyball should have been in the bracket with MRA, Hartfield and JA. Prep almost beat Brandon, one of the top MHSAA 7A volleyball teams.

But you are right on the PP system. Hartfield loses to both Prep and JA by 3+ scores and gets the 2 seed in the upper bracket. A lot of people okay with JA getting screwed this year by having to play MRA in semifinal though.

Prep lost to Lamar. Lamar was really good. They beat Prep both times. They also beat Ja and MRA. They were just better.

Because everyone thought it would be dumb to have a 4 team division So they came up with a more ridiculous system to try to pretend it was a broader league. It’s all changing next year.

Im not entirely sure but I think the Jackson 4 will have their own division. I don’t know the extent they would intermix with other districts. But I’ve just been told it’s changing.
