No one can come up with a solid answer.......

This is the most tight lipped search I have ever seen......

I like how the search is.. at least we know theres some serious work going into this coaching hire and contract. Whoever we get I have a strong feeling Byrne is going to make sure they are going to impress and their contract is going to have some high expectations laid out in it for each year's progress. I can't imagine the amount of detail that is going into all of this. Its a matter of how far Greg Byrne really wants to place himself onto the national scene as well as how far he wants us to succeed.

this is how it's SUPPOSED to be. When you work with agents, and are trying to outbid people like Boise State and Cincinnati for their coach, it takes time.

Combine this, which came out yesterday:

The State Board of Education meets this week. Boise State had a "placeholder" on the agenda to discuss a new contract for Petersen, with no specifics provided. That item has been removed from the agenda because contract talks have broken off, as I reported Sunday.

With this:

PORTLAND, Ore. -- Mike Bellotti is Oregon's head coach for now. Chip Kelly has been picked to eventually replace the man who's been leading the Ducks for the last 14 seasons.

How long until eventually comes is anybody's guess. Oregon became the latest school to name a coach-in-waiting, picking Kelly, in his second season as the Ducks' offensive coordinator, as Bellotti's successor. Bellotti will become the school's athletic director when he steps down. He said Tuesday he will coach the Ducks in their bowl game and continue to recruit. Asked if he would step down after this season, Bellotti told reporters during a conference call he didn't think so. "It could be a year, it could be more," he said. "I don't know."

With Leo Seal's recent endowment,

With Byrne's proven penchant for hiring people he's familiar with (Exhibit A: Cohen),

And I think we have our answer.

Maybe so. There have been too many people saying that he has turned us down or whatever. Maybe just smoke screens.

That would be huge if it works out.

I can't remember who posted it and I wish I could because it was a good post but he posted that since we have not heard anything by now, the AD is going after a Head Coach and he must be at a bowl school.

I totally agree with the poster on this. I think the AD is thinking high and he has the money to do so.

Not a soul on this or any other board "needs" to know what's going on. It's simply not necessary...not ragging on you just amplifying what I'm interpreting you to say, Croomp.

Les Miles would be at Michigan right now if not for people running their mouth. There are numerous examples of moves that could have been pulled off if only they had been kept quiet. Most, if not all, are unconfirmed b/c really how often is a coach going to say "Well, I was going to take that job but they leaked the info early and caused embarrasment for me so I backed out". Believe it, though, it happens.

If we trust Byrne? (and I will, NOT b/c he's a proven commodity yet but b/c I'd rather trust him than a fan base that can be swayed in a million directions (see Bobby Hall) if given the chance to have input) then back off, keep quiet, and let the man do his job. Personally, I think there's a ton of disinformation being planted among the faithful and I think it's very smart. Keep everybody, including your own fans, off balance so nobody really knows what's going on. If other schools don't know they can't react to what we're doing.
