We're talking about school children. Whatever the cause for them falling behind, they're showing up at school tomorrow. Could be any ethnicity. Kid is poor and didn't eat well last night. Doesn't matter to me on Friday morning if his mom was working and didn't cook, or if they didn't have enough food before the month ran out, or he spent his food money on drugs. Either way, there's a fix. Give him some food. We can deal with the cause later. Same with learning. if there's a way to teach the kid in a way that he'll learn, I don't particularly care why that method came about or by whom.

OK. And? How does that matter to people who are persecuted because of race? (This is apart from the above discussion)

First, while I appreciate your attempt at the remedy, it is not the remedy recommended by those who racialize everything.

Second, racism is racism. But, when false racist charges of racism are leveled, it harms those accused and harms those who are the alleged victims.

I have no idea. I just threw that out because it was the only county I could think of for some reason. I live 900 miles from Louisville so I guess I should hush up about Louisville. I don't even know anyone living in that city and the only time I have been to it was driving through on the Interstate. Except for attending the Final Four at the Fairgrounds in 1958.

I don't think I have ever been to Oldham County. Hush my mouth.
Yeah, I don’t think you escape this problem by moving to Oldham Co.

DeSantis to ban Louisville from Tallahassee. Can grammar be far behind with their dangling participles?

Hoo boy, OK. So for the sake of argument, let's say you nailed it. That doesn't change the fact that kids come to schools and still need to learn. They're going to show up every morning. Some will be hungry, so the school feeds them. Some will need socks or a coat, so the school get them some clothes. Some will not have any help with homework at home or will have no scholastic expectations from parental figures, school will still try and teach them. No matter what buzz words are used by the "woke", as people get called around here, the end result is trying to get kids to learn.

Some of you can't look past the who in order to be able to focus on the what or how.

Not to mention, it's not like Ms. Teacher looks at little Jamal's math test and then looks at little McKayla's math test and says, "It's OK that you got them all wrong, Jamal. Math is mad racist." In fact, one of the things in the article (or linked from it) specifically addresses the fact that some teachers have lower expectation for black students, and how that is wrong. But when we see the title "‘Soft Bigotry of Low Expectations’ And Its Role in Maintaining White Supremacy through Mathematics Education." it's an automatic NO to half the population because they automatically assume tHeY'rE sAyIn' We'R'e WhItE sUpReMaCiStS!!!!!!.

In other words, to most folks online it's all about the packaging and not the contents.
These ideas are not for the sake of learning. When math or any other subject is paired with a political ideology, it’s not about kids.

Ask where else in the world this is happening. When you realize it’s practically nowhere else, things come into focus.

It was literally a tweet inviting them. Read the article. The registration link doesn’t work. The tweet link doesn’t work. There’s no schedule/time/location.

Should you verify the source or see if anyone is actually attending before deciding the end result of your made up scenario?
The article is from 2021 and the course ends in May 2022. That’s probably why the registration links don’t work anymore.

Funny how people commenting don’t have kids who actually go to JCPS. They are woke af. Every school board member - even the ones representing the east end - is a liberal. One recent after school program had the kids watch the Colin Kaepernick documentary to “teach kids about racism in America”. This was tweeted out by the JCPS Diversity, Inclusion and Equity Twitter account.

The only thing holding JCPS accountable are the parents who are paying attention and the superintendent who actually seems somewhat reasonable. We have to basically threaten the schools that we’ll make public the wackjob ideas and curriculum a subset of the teachers are pushing for.

Case in point, there was some 22-year old new teacher who kept on making TikTok videos of how her classroom was basically a shrine to BLM and LGBT. She got called out on LibsofTikTok and the super shut her and others down fast.

This was in a Washington elementary school. Principal confirmed it in a letter. It’s happening folks. Stay involved in your local school system. Know your board members and what they stand for. Like many school boards, time for a change in Fayette County in November. Just as important though as knowing current board members, know who you are voting for. Their Facebook pages give good info 😁.

Non-white people learn math and reading very well around the world.

How exactly can students in India, one of the most colonized places in the last 150 years, excel at subjects like math, science, and grammar if these subjects are in need of “de-colonization”?

For those who can’t accept the truth: this is all nonsense.

The actual truth is that the racism emanates from places like NYC, San Francisco, LA, where they are openly lowering standards for black kids as some sort of equity. This is accessible for anyone to read about for themselves.

Let’s say private school is $10K per year but instead you invested that and got a 5% return you’d have $177K after 12 years. From my perspective, my kid would be better off with the $177K than the private school education.

That isn’t a problem solved in a vacuum. $177k doesn’t fix irreversibly woke and stupid. It’s a bandaid on a severed leg. On the other hand, if your kid comes out the other side well adjusted and still living in reality, you’d be correct.

Public school doesn’t guarantee a kid comes out useless to society, but the chances are far greater. A “good” private school doesn’t guarantee a kid comes out great, but again the chances are far greater.

This is when discussing JCPS, a truly awful school district. I’d happily give up hundreds of thousands to keep my kids away from those useless idiots.

The equation changes if it’s an area with quality public schools.

One of the radio stations in the southern part of the state uses Tuckessee.
Ugh. I hate that term. Being 15 miles from the boarder I hear it often.

“Aww. You’re just a Tuckassean!” Hell. No.

I am a denizen of the proud COMMONWEALTH of Kentucky.

That “thing” to the south can stay there and rot.

You're right. I forgot to include enabling white liberals as part of the problem.

Accountability. No other race seems to have issues with it.
I dunno man. Accountability seems to be a dead thing in America amongst every race.

I feel like most of the Indian dudes I work with are pretty accountable. So are the Hispanic guys. I’ve been pretty pleased with most of the black guys too.
Just in general in society. Work is one thing because most people there are trying to live. But in society? Woof. If there no chance of consequences? People are running with it.

Why not do both you broke *** loser
You want to know the real reason, Ron? I went to private school and ended up at good ole State U. My brother went public - even bussed inner city - and ended up at Yale. My dad kind of looked at me after that and said “why did I waste my money on your worthless ***?” So I figure it doesn’t really matter publi v private in terms of future success.

Me and my siblings all went to ****** public schools in West Virginia. My brother is a physician, I’m a filthy rich business man, and my sister is a higher up at the NIH. It doesn’t matter really - unless you’re a middle of the pack kid that needs an extra push. My preschooler is in private school because of all the COVID nonsense but we’ll see about the future. I’d personally prefer public school but my wife really wants private which means I’m screwed.

I agree - and with private there’s a much smaller chance you get in with a really bad crowd (although it is still possible).

Concur. Mom thought about private school for me but I was already so shy and introverted she decided t9 send me to public school to expose me to other kids and somewhat socialize me to a wider range of people.

I think private schools are awesome. But I also think they can also be really sheltered.

Lol... yeah, I do recall some kids who had ZERO idea there was life outside of country clubs and private schools. But frankly, when I went to public school there were some kids who were sheltered as hell too. I think it's about the parents more than anything.
This is true.

But there do seem to be those more in private schools. “Elites” tend to “inbreed” so to speak.

Personally I’m in favor of both. And high quality public options.

I think public schools can be awesome. I went to great public schools until I was a sophomore. I really noticed no educational difference in fact. If I were in charge of JCPS I'd end bussing cold and get rid of the D&I lunatics, fund the hell out of West End (poorer) schools, tell the East end (richer) schools funding is going down so hold private fundraisers and bake sales. Bussing kids all over the place and not having really any schools in the West end is a travesty.

I don’t know enough about JCPS to formulate a valid specific opinion but in general bus drivers should be paid a heck of a lot better overall.
