Iran was actually invited into Iraq by Obama. Iran wants to reestablish the Persian Empire. Of that, there is little doubt. Iran is taking an ever increasing role in Iraq. 2/3 of the population of Iraq is Shia. Iran is Shia. Iran already controls Syria. Next on their agenda is Iraq. Nukes are critical to their strategy. Saudi, which is Sunni, will also go nuclear to protect themselves.

The good news is that the current administration recognizes this growing threat to the region and to international order. Can you imagine the refugees if Iran gets its way?

I would not be surprised PAX to see 'Mad Dog Mattis' working with the IAF as we speak to coordinate strategic strikes against Iran's nuclear facilities that Obama left spinning those centrifuges.

As soon as we have clear evidence of their violation of that sham agreement they signed with Kerry, those operations will get turned into dust bins. They've already violated the ICBM test ban.

I predict those centrifuges won't still be operational by this time next year.

For some strange reason Trump seems to be rather cavalier about other countries getting nuclear weapons. Let other countries take care of their stuff while we do our stuff. "America First" and all that.

"Strange reason"? Trump's entire psychosis is dependent on bravado, bluster and self- protection. Trump and his own family have the greatest chance of survival. He has nothing to worry about. He and his offspring could emerge as Kings of the Earth. Sounds like something a freak like Donnie would love. Just like Nam, Donnie will hide from actually fighting in any war but pound his breast with victory when it's over.

Iran War?

This is exactly a situation where you have little to no understanding and your naivete is extremely dangerous. If Iran succeeds, it could very well set off not just a nuclear arms race in the Middle East, but actual war on a massive scale. You seem to know very, very little about the Middle East.

Iran is Shia. Shia currently represent about 25% of all Middle East Muslims according to some recent polls. Iran wants to reestablish the Persian Empire. Iran is run by religious fanatics fully capable of making disastrous decisions in the name of their religion, including using nuclear weapons.

The Soviets and the U.S. were much saner and still came close at times to nuclear conflict (Cuban Missile Crisis). Iran isn't burdened with sanity.

Iran has the largest Shia majority, with more than 66 million making up nearly 90% of the population.

Shia are also in the majority in Iraq and Bahrain. There are sizable Shia communities in Kuwait, Yemen, Lebanon, Qatar, Syria, Saudi Arabia and the UAE.

In countries with large Shia communities, Shia often make up the poorest sections of society and see themselves as oppressed and discriminated against.

The Persian Empire spanned from Egypt in the west to Turkey in the north, and through Mesopotamia to the Indus River in the east.

Saudia Arabia has a small Shia population. They are terrified of Iran and have sided with Israel against Iran, even offering to fund the Israeli's air strikes against Iranian nuclear facilities.

If Iran succeeds in getting their nuke and the missiles to deliver them, they have the tools they need to begin to reestablish their empire. Other countries would be forced to go nuclear as well to defend themselves or simply bow down to Iranian aggression. The Saudi's nor the Israeli's will let that happen.

Why would Iran use nuclear weapons? Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and many Iranian leaders believe the most important task of the Iranian Revolution was to prepare the way for the return of the Twelfth Imam, who disappeared in 874, bringing an end to Muhammad's lineage. This imam, the Mahdi or "divinely guided one," Shiites believe, will return in an apocalyptic battle in which the forces of righteousness will defeat the forces of evil and bring about a new era in which Islam ultimately becomes the dominant religion throughout the world.

The Iranians believe it is divinely guided for them to prepare the way for the Twelfth Imam's return.

This represents an existential threat to the world. Imagine the impact a nuclear holocaust would have?

Iran must be stopped and soon. They are testing missiles capable of delivering nuclear warheads. They, even if they live up to their agreement (which they won't) will be nuclear capable in as little as 10 years. Millions upon millions of lives are at stake.

No one wants war. But the much better question is what can be done to save as many lives as possible?

For some strange reason, Obama gave Iran $150B to fund both terrorism and their missile and nuclear efforts. Obama ignored time after time their violations of the agreement. And Trump has been in office two weeks. LOL.

Again that number comes from alt right publications. Treasury said $55 b in sanction relief. Irans central bank says 32 billion Maybe I missed it but can you show me legit news or reports to show to support your 150 number?

You know this was Iranian money that had been frozen right? We shouldn't have released a dime, but I can't find Anything legit to support your number.

Sorry, it was actually $1.7B.

The Hill is very reputable.

Even CNN admits $150B and Pelosi doesn't dispute the number.

In many ways I hope you are right. But, my gut tells me that Iran has constructed their nuclear facilities far under ground and well fortified. Do we have munitions that will penetrate and destroy? Have some doubts. In addition will the softee American public understand the nature of the program and be supportive of the action? I can see the media and left wingers blazing the Trump administration more than the Iranians are being blasted. Not pleasant to consider even though it is an action that may well be called for and necessary to long term peace and security.

Yes this is a problem eerdoc. But Israel's Mossad can and has infiltrated that Iranian nuclear facility at Natanz, and they can carry out sabotage to deal with the issue you mentioned. To me the real issue is Russia supplying Iran with Nuclear warheads in exchange for control and/or access to the straight of Hormuz.

If you remember, that was a strategic waterway near the Persian Gulf the US was determined to keep navigable during the first Gulf War because it is vital to world shipping of Oil, as well as military operations in the Mediterranean and around the horn of Africa. Russia also values control over the same territory in its long sought desire to strangle the West. (another reason we need energy independence)

So, they bear watching, as well as how we deal with Israel to control those radicals in Iran. Just as PAX pointed out in one of his posts in this thread, they think they're getting ready to issue in Armageddon and pave the way for Islam all over the world.

We might not have been taking them seriously these past 8 years under Obama, but that's about to change now.
