Morale amongst State fans is as low as it's ever been. Our season has been filled with disappointment. We have a moron for a coach and most of the rest of the staff is even worse. We know nothing is going to improve next year. Worst of all, our rival is running circles around us and is going to make it into the CFP. The one thing that could somewhat save this football season for State fans is to see our rival get hit with losing their coach who brought them back to relevancy. A little bit of a haha in their face.

Which is exactly why Lane Kiffin is staying put in Oxford. Because nothing about this season can be good for us.

It will be good for Ole Miss to give their backups another chance to play and contribute in the second half before they start the playoffs.

Our best hope if for Lane to leave. Apparently, no one is expecting Lebby to figure it out.

Yes. Our best hope for winning the Egg Bowl this year or next is for the Rebels to 17 it up. Because we aren't going to do anything positive for ourselves to win it.

I'm not happy, but what the 17 does starting thread after thread saying nothing new do for you?? Hell, I guess we're just all built different, but it is what it is. Why keep typing about it with nothing new to add

It does keep DS in flatscreens, so that's good.

State's best hope for winning would be for the Rebels 1st 2 strings O and D coming down with explosive diarrhea 10 min before kickoff followed immediately by projectile vomiting so the Imodium doesn't stay in their system long enough to kick in for the 2nd half. We know one side is going to have shi**y play, that's the only way I can think of that both teams will.

I have a feeling Kiffin will make a mockery of the system and get LSU and Florida to make ridiculous offers soon to try to compete with Ohio State and Georgia. LSU already has.

I'm picking up what you're putting down, and I can certainly see it. Their entire world seems to revolve around trolling State and making headlines, so I wouldn't put it past them.

I've thought for some time now that he's been and will continue to use this opportunity to ultimately embarrass those schools to show OM as being better and steal players, all while interrupting their coaching search progress.

Yeah, trolling is just what OM does. On one hand I think that's what they are doing. On the other hand Kiffin is probably THE hottest coach in football right now, and if LSU, Florida or whoever really wants him, you know they can sweeten the pot a lot better than OM can.

I agree on the setup,. but Lame don't give two poops about us. He's all about himself and attention. He's laying all sides against each other and is in a can't lose situation. He loves being fawned over and, if he stays, will get fawned over by OM fans.

Lane is going to sign an extension at the 50-yard line on top of the &tate logo right after the Egg Bowl is over. His players will then present him with a pimp cane and a robe and he will do a swag dance with them while shouting "I ain't going anywhere!" over and over. Ask yourselves. Is that scenario really that far fetched?

Worst of all is that we suck. I've never understood the obsession that some (maybe not you) have with how Ole Miss is doing. My dream season has always been two undefeated teams in the Egg Bowl and us winning. I don't spend much time agonizing over anything Ole Miss does. I'm simply glad I'm a Dawg and not one of them. I think that Lane staying would keep the bar high for those who do obsess over Ole Miss results and maybe lead to them giving more money toward our team?

My dream season is us at 11-0 and them at 0-11 and we start taking knees in the first quarter. If you grew up in or in the shadow of the Vaught years you understand.

I could adopt that as a second place dream

ETA: Almost without fail, the most boisterous, obnoxious ole miss fans did not go to school there, in my experience. I have some close alums who are great people. I have some friends who went to MC who are prototypical...

Unfortunately, they have a very capable AD who will make a strong hire and keep things on track. Meanwhile, we’ll just have to hope next season looks miraculously different for us, even though we haven’t shown much reason to believe improvement is on the horizon.

The funny thing is that the next hire after your most successful coach of all time is usually the easiest one to make. The idea is to keep as many things the same as possible. Honestly, I'd promote Pete Golding. You don't want a guy who is going to instantly upset an established culture.

About the only time I remember this not being the case is Kalen Deboar at Bama. Of course, they have dropped off, but to his credit no one is Saban. But then again the Saban culture usually hangs around for a few years (less so in the portal era). I mean LSU was still reaping the Saban rewards for 3 years.

He will leave at some point, but the two options available to him right now - LSU and Florida - are so dysfunctional I’m not sure either are capable of getting a deal done for someone of his caliber. And the family trips to Gainesville and Baton Rouge were so clumsily executed, it has the look of the best Kiffin troll job ever.

Anybody who can win 10 games at a Mississippi school (much less repeatedly) deserves being fawned over.

Nope. Not far fetched at all. I'd be surprised if they DIDN'T pull some sort of stunt like this.

I dont understand why everybody is so infatuated with Lanes decision on employment. I mean it is interesting but it has zero effect on the Egg Bowl. Its delusional to think OM will suspend him at any point. He may leave but it will be after the season. Thinking he is going to leave next week and the football team will fall apart and Lebby will win is insane.

I think most of us would very much like Mississippi to quit winning 10 games every damn year and at least have a chance to win more than 1 or 2 of the next 10 Egg Bowls.

Most important thing for ole Miss to continue winning is to main their offensive system after Kiffin, make Golding the HC without special care to their OC and they lose their identity. They probably aren’t stupid enough to got full on RTGDFB round peg square hole it.

No doubt. OM is not suspending Lane nor is he quitting before this Egg Bowl. I wish he would. I spent $900 on tickets back when we were holding the line against good teams. Now I imagine it will be an embarrassing slaughter. We can all wish in one hand and schitt in the other and see which one gets filled. I hope it's the Kamario Taylor show personally

I'm expecting almost that exact thing but I'm saying at the 50 pre-game. That way it'll be talked about during the entire broadcast.
