taken at face value. The players know that people talk good and bad on message boards, twitter feeds, facebook, and in the stands. The bad is usually much worse than someone would ever say if they were in person. The players know this too. How many people on campus, in town, at a game, etc.do you think have walked up to Sidney and told him that he is lazy and sucks? I'd bet ZERO. The enormous difference between how they are treated in reality and online is the main reason that I say the impact of what is said on a message board is minimal. Otherwise, we would have lost how many players and coaches over the last decade just from SPS alone.
Things like misspelled words, butt taste in cups, etc. have much more of a chance of being changed because of a message board.
One more example: We ***** about Stans having a revolving door with players transferring. How many have stated that one of the reasons was our fans were badmouthing them? I can't think of one.
/edit to add: I also agree that it is about time to give Sidney a break. That wasn't my point in the original post. I just find itironic when someone starts a thread typing in all caps with multiple exclamation points tells the rest of us to calm down. He takes the interwebs too seriously.
