If Ray Tanner or Paul Mainieri had taken over the program from Polk instead of Cohen, where would we be right now?
First you say the 2007 team backed into the NCAA tourney. Then you crawfish and we that team got lucky breaks to get to Omaha.
Hmmm. The 2007 team swept the regional (at Florida State) and then swept the Super Regional over Clemson. How is that "catching breaks" to get to Omaha. They earned it.
Spare us the "we were lucky to host the Super Regional because we were a 2 seed" routine. A least one two seed ends up hosting every year. Heck, some three seeds have hosted Super Regionals.
I 'm no Polk II apologist, and I know the 2007 team got clocked in Omaha, but the notion the 2007 team wasn't good doesn't hold water.
